J.F. Penn is an award winning writer from The United Kingdom, who is renowned for writing mystery, suspense, supernatural, thriller, fantasy, fiction, action, and nonfiction novels. She is particularly popular for writing the Arkane series. The other successful novel series written by her include the London Crime series, Mapwalker series, and The Sin series. Author Penn is listed in the bestselling list of USA Today and the NY Times. Besides writing novels, Penn is also involved in several other works as a podcaster, YouTuber, and entrepreneur. She has developed a site called TheCreativePenn.com, where she posts blogs, podcast, and various other interesting things. This Writer’s Digest has listed this site among the top 100 writers’ sites. So far, author Penn has written 27 novels and has solve more the half a million printed copies in over 84 countries of the world. Her books have been translated in as many as 5 foreign languages. Penn also runs a small press known as the Curl Up Press. She runs it along with her husband, who is also her business partner. As an indie author, Penn has achieved a lot of fame in her career. Penn manages to take out some time from her busy schedule to serve as a professional speaker on the international level. She has won many awards for her creative entrepreneurship.

Author Penn was born as Joanna Frances Penn in Bath, England. She has lived in New Zealand and Australia for eleven years of her life. Penn considers herself a travel junkie. She likes to frequent trips to different interesting places for her book research. Penn even indulges in the activities of hiking, book reading, and spending some relaxing time with her family. Prior to the beginning of her writing career, author Penn spent thirteen years working as a business consultant in the IT industry. This job allowed her to visit many countries for business deals. It was in 2011 that author Penn decided to quit and start working as a full time writer-cum-entrepreneur. On her site CreativePenn, she has offered inspiration and information related to self-publishing, writing, book marketing, and ways of making a living through writing podcasts, books, articles, etc. Penn says that she was always inspired by the idea of writing a book of her own. She spent several years just thinking about this goal before making an actual attempt towards achieving it. Her first nonfiction novel was self-published in 2008.

Penn agrees that she had made many mistakes as she was new to this field. Initially, she found it very hard to sell her books or even get them published. This experience made her learn about the idea of marketing. She became determined to try many things to improve her writing and become a better writer. And when her efforts started to bear fruits, she thought of sharing them with others in a bid to save their time, money, and efforts. This thought led to the foundation of her site. Author Penn uses the name Joanna Penn to write nonfiction books, while her thrillers are published under J.F. Penn. In 2013, Penn began writing a short story series based on the work of Dante, Inferno. Penn collaborated with author J. Thorn in 2015 for writing an urban fantasy thriller called Risen Gods, which is set in New Zealand. As a reader, she likes to take up reading diverse genres of books. Her list of inspiring writers include Stephen King, James Rollins, John Connolly, Lee Child, and Jonathan Maberry. She also likes to read nonfiction stories, mostly entrepreneurship, travel, self help, etc. Penn is happily married and resides in Bath. She loves cats and spends time relaxing with them.

The Arkane series written by author J.F. Penn is comprised of a total of 10 books, which were released between the years 2011 and 2018. Each of the books of this series features the chief protagonists in the roles of Jake Timber and Morgan Sierra, who are shown as working for a British agency called Arkane. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘Stone of Fire’. It was released by the Curl Up publication in the year 2011. The setting of the plot is done in India, Spain, Israel, Italy, Tunisia, England, and Iran. At the start of the story of the book, it is shown that some people burn a nun alive in Varanasi, India and the relics she carried get stolen. Following this incident, an international hunt for the old relics begins.

The relics, Pentecost stones, are known to be forged in martyrs’ blood and fire. The Keepers have handed them down through generations and have keep their locations and power secret. But now, some people are murdering the Keepers and stealing the stones with the intention of using them for evil purposes. Morgan Sierra, a psychologist from University is asked to get involved in the search of the stones when her niece and sister get held as hostages. Jake Timber, who works for Arkane, helps her in this mission. Morgan puts her own life on the line in order to save the lives of her close ones. Jake & Morgan try to track the stones by going on its trail at the Christian site in countries like Tunisia, Israel, Italy, Iran, and Spain. They race against the clock to prevent the killing of another Keeper.

Another suspenseful book published as part of this series is called ‘Crypt of Bone’. It was also released in 2011. At the beginning of the book’s story, it is depicted that a man gets victimized by Jerusalem Syndrome. His falls to his death from Western Wall’s top and his body gets smashed on some ancient stones. Another victim’s body is found near the Pale Horse figure. It appears that both the deaths were a result of suicide as they victims had written a note saying that there were doing it on the orders of God. Morgan Sierra is told to visit Israel and investigate the case. She gets involved in a deep international conspiracy. It is learned later that a new technology is being used to carry out an old curse on mankind by some evil forces. Also, the lives of the ones Morgan loves is put in danger. Once again, Jake Timber comes to her help. They try to get their hands on Devil’s Bible, which is pursued by Thanatos’ evil forces. Morgan Sierra & Jake Timber try everything in their capacity to find it before them and put an end to the conspiracy. Many readers from various countries appreciated the rich content, interesting characters, and suspenseful story of this book. It went on to become very successful and sold numerous copies.
