Hailey Edwards is an American USA Today bestselling author who writes stories of magic, romance, and mystery.

Edwards is known for the ‘Araneae Nation’ series and the ‘Black Dog’ books.

+Biography
Hailey Edwards has had an active imagination ever since she was born. One might impute that particular attribute of her personality to all the fantasy she watched as a child.

By the time she was five, the author had seen ‘The Dark Crystal’, ‘Labyrinth’ and ‘The Hobbit’, not to mention ‘The Last Unicorn’.

Though, Edwards’ parents will tell you that she did more than merely watch those movies. Rather, Edwards obsessed over them, watching and rewatching them so many times that her parents began to worry.

Edwards was introduced to fantasy at a time when she did not even know what that word meant. As such, she always approached the likes of ‘Flight of the Dragons’ as if those stories took place in real worlds that she would eventually explore if she tried hard enough.

Nothing was impossible for the author at that age. She had a grand plan on her mind that involved riding actual unicorns and learning magic from the scale of a dragon.

The author even asked her parents to get her a sword. Once they realized how serious she was, the pair started taking steps to keep her away from the silverware.

Eventually, as Hailey Edwards matured, she realized the absurdity of her dreams. She came to realize that unicorns and dragons and their ilk were not real. But by that point in time, it did not matter.

A desire for fantasy had been ignited within Edwards’ heart and nothing anyone said or did could ever put it out. Of course, preferences are fickle things, and most authors will tell you that their reading habits changed multiple times as they traversed their pre-teen and teenage years.

Hailey Edwards was no different. Even though fantasy had basically shaped her childhood, she eventually developed a taste for crime and mystery. In fact, for so many years after, Edwards all but abandoned fantasy, a development most of her friends and family would have dismissed as impossible if they had not witnessed it.

It was so many years later, a short period before Edwards kick-started her writing career, that the author came across Karen Moning’s ‘Dark Fever’. The novel gave Edwards her first true taste of Urban Fantasy and it opened the door for the author to rediscover her love for the fantasy genre as a whole.

Then came a period of time during which Hailey Edwards devoured every paranormal fantasy novel and series of novels she could find, from ‘Black Dagger Brotherhood’ by J.R. Ward to ‘Immortals After Dark’ by Kresley Cole.

Edwards couldn’t get enough of the genre. And after a while, rather than replaying her favorite scenes from her favorite fantasy novels, new stories began to take shape in the author’s minds, ideas, and characters that she pondered for some time before finally coming to the conclusion that she might want to write her own books.

Edwards had read crime and mystery for so many years, and at no point had she felt the pull to write. But then fantasy came back into the picture, and Hailey Edwards could not keep her mind from churning out new ideas.

Of course, the author initially resisted the urge, uncertain as to whether she had the ability to produce her own original fiction. But the pull to write became too strong and she eventually gave into it.

She sat down and she began to write and she has never stopped. Edwards’ first published full-length novel was ‘Everlong’. She was starting to wonder how far she would go in the publishing field when Samhain Publishing reached out to her via email, telling her that they were ready to take her first novel to the masses.

The day is ingrained in Hailey Edwards’ mind. It gave her the opening she needed to make her mark on the publishing landscape.

Edwards is a pantser. She makes some effort to take an organized approach to her writing. And she definitely tries to outline but she doesn’t depend on any of the ideas she jots down.

Rather, the author prefers to let her stories lead her. Edwards tries to generate at least 2000 words every single day. She gets the first half of her work done first thing in the morning and the second half at night when everyone has gone to bed.

Of all the aspects of writing, world building is Edwards’ favorite. She doesn’t plan out her settings. Rather, she prefers to let them grow slowly and steadily as her story takes shape.

The author keeps a series bible which helps her maintain consistency. But for the most part, Edwards doesn’t like restricting her imagination.

+Dead in the Water
Camille Ellis is an intelligent girl with a powerful gift living in a word that isn’t quite as normal as its surface façade might suggest. Camille is a Gemini. Along with her twin, she has the power to mimic other people and their gifts.

This is on top of harboring a special ability of her own. A past tragedy left Camille scarred. She became an aimless drifter for a while. And then a supernatural law enforcement agency recruited her.

Now Camille is a hotshot investigator whose job it is to look into crimes committed by supernatural entities.

Camille is assigned what should be a routine case. But then the brother of the victim whose situation she has been charged with resolving comes into the picture, driven by grief and determined to get vengeance.

Cam must work fast to save the next victim from a persistent killer even while keeping her new companion out of harm’s way.

+ Dog with a Bone
Thierry doesn’t want to be a peacekeeper. But half-bloods like her have only two options in life. They can either join the marshal program or get deported from the mortal realm.

Thierry cares nothing for the Faerie world. Texas is the only home she has ever known and she will do anything to stay, even if it means pinning a badge to her chest.
