Author Estelle Ryan decided to combine her interest in the arts, international politics, criminal and behavioral psychology, and crime for her “Genevieve Lenard” series. It led to Genevieve and the team to being created.
Genevieve is high functioning autistic, and has to deal with it all while trying to catch killers. She is a highly renowned expert in nonverbal communication, and works as an insurance investigator.
The first novel was published in the year 2012, and is called “The Gauguin Connection”.
“The Gauguin Connection” is the first novel in the “Genevieve Lenard” series, which was released in the year 2012. A simple murder case rapidly turns into a mess of a money laundering charity, stolen Eurocorps weapons, forged art, and high ranking EU officials abuse of power.
Dr. Genevieve Lenard is a world renowned expert in nonverbal communication and an insurance investigator confronts the challenge of living an independent and successful life on a daily basis. Especially since she has to deal with high functioning Autism. Nothing (her great analytic skills, high IQ, or her studies) has prepared her for the big changes that are about to take place in her life.
It began as a favor to assist her boss’ friend to look into the young artist’s murder, but it quickly becomes a lot more complicated. Genevieve forced away from her safe environment, predictable routines, and limited social interactions, and is made to expanding her social definitions, explore the meaning of friendship, and be a part of a team, for the first time in her life. All in an effort to stop additional artists from getting killed.
Fans of the novel found this character drew them in from the first page and did not let go. The book kept them up until the late hours, this was just so interesting to read. The mystery has a nice balance to it, and the characters help to keep the story moving forward. Estelle Ryan writes with a fresh voice and hopefully, she will be putting out more of these books.
“The Dante Connection” is the second novel in the “Genevieve Lenard” series, which was released in the year 2013. Genevieve Lenard finds out that she is actually the link that connects stolen pieces of art, sinister threats, and art despite her original disbelief.
She is betrayed by those that claim they are her friends, so she throws herself into her work as an insurance investigator with autistic single-mindedness. Francine (a hacker) shows up to her doorstep bloodied and beaten and begging for help. She is forced to get the previous hurt of her friends abandoning her and team up with them to catch the perps.
What she does not yet know yet is that it is going to take her on a journey through two twisted minds to find out the true target of their puzzling messages. This one will take every ounce of her personal strength and her knowledge as a nonverbal communications expert to get over her fears which might cost her her own life, but also many others’ lives.
Fans of the novel found Dr. Lenard to be a fascinating character, and makes readers want to find more of these books to read. Some found this one to be even more enjoyable than the first book, as the scenes have been better fleshed out and the interactions and relationships each of the characters have are explored fully.
“The Braque Connection” is the third novel in the “Genevieve Lenard” series, which was released in the year 2013. Genevieve Lenard awakens in an unknown location, after being kidnapped and drugged. It pushes the limits of her autism coping skills.
For the past year Tomasz Kubanov (a Russian philanthropist and psychopath) has been studying Genevieve, as she and her team have been studying Tomasz. Forged paintings and puzzling murders are popping around her and her team, and there is evidence that points to one of them being the murderer.
Genevieve knows for sure that Kubanov is the one behind the senseless acts of violence. What she cannot figure out are the inconsistencies between the cryptic messages he is sending and his actions. Something has set off his unpredictable behavior, which is something that may result in additional deaths, even to those she cares about. This time around, Kubanov doesn’t have anything to lose.
Fans of the novel find this is highly enjoyable entertainment with an excellent core group of main characters and some compelling pacing in it. These are well developed characters that seem like they are old friends at this point. Some found themselves learning while they were reading this compelling mystery novel.
“The Flinck Connection” is the fourth novel in the “Genevieve Lenard” series, which was released in the year 2014. A cryptic message found online leads Dr. Genevieve to a brutally murdered politician. She is ordered not to investigate the matter, but they look into the vicious crime anyway. Additional online messages follow, taking them down a path that is lined with a sadistic assassin, corruption, an oil scandal, and one of the largest heists in history. The unsolved 1990 Boston museum art theft that came with a worth of five hundred million dollars.
The deeper they dig into things, the more evidence they find of a conspiracy that implicates someone who is close to them and hold in high regard. A deadline looms for Genevieve and she has to cope with dangers from the past and the present, as well as an attack on a member of her team and her own limitations. All of this will be important for her if she is to expose the actual threat and keep those in her inner circle safe.
Fans of the novel find this to be well detailed and written. Here is a good mystery, and is enhanced by the interactions the team has with each other. Once again, Estelle Ryan penned a captivating tale with excellent characters, a stellar plot that will keep your attention until it is over. And you will want to read the next one after that, right away.
