Eva Marie Everson
Eva Marie Everson was born and raised just outside of Savannah, Georgia in a charming small town, that is called Sylvania, Georgia. She has a southern accent, and gets just a little more southern each and every time she crosses the Florida/Georgia state line. She believes that one has to go North in order to get South of here.
If she had all of the time in the world, she would probably lounge on the sofa for the entire day and just watch old movies. She typically has to get sick for something like that happening. Time or not, she loves hiking in the great outdoors and pushing herself to new heights, both spiritually and physically. She is rarely still and sleeps very little.
Eva quotes lines from songs and movies so often that most people are unaware of what she’s even doing. She might or might not have offended a few folks.
She is a former nurse and a seminary graduate. She was not all that crazy about nursing, but love God with a passion and is barely able to get through any conversation without talking about their relationship. Eva believes reading the Old Testament is a lot of fun to read. How much stuff can a single clan of people get into, anyway? And the New Testament draws her that much closer to Heaven.
She married her husband in 1979, and they have three of the greatest kids and the most wonderful grandkids.
When Eva is not busy writing, she is editing. When she’s not busy doing that, she is running Word Weavers International, an international membership group of writers who, as they use the art of critique, become iron sharpening iron. She is also one of the two directors of Florida Christian Writers Conference. She speaks to women’s groups and at writers conferences as well as congregations.
“Things Left Unspoken” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2009. Jo-Lynn Hunter is at a crossroads in her life when her great-aunt Stella insists she return home in order to restore the old family home in sleepy little Cottonwood, Georgia. Seeing the project as the perfect excuse for some therapeutic time away from her self-absorbed husband and his snobby Atlanta friends, Jo-Lynn longs to sink her teeth into a satisfying project.
However things are not as they appear, both in the house and within the complicated history of her family. What’s Aunt Stella hiding? Was her great-grandpa the pillar of the community like she believed he was? And is Jo-Lynn’s marriage going to survive this renovation?
She’s not sure she even wants to know the truth, however sometimes the truth just has a way of making itself known. The past comes to life in this thoughtful and well written novel filled with family, secrets, and drama with just a hint of Southern drawl.
“This Fine Life” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2010. Summer of 1959. Marriette Puttnam has recently graduated from boarding school. When she goes back to her privileged life at home, she is unsure of where life’s going to take her. A job? Further schooling? A job? Maybe, marriage? Nothing feels quite right.
How could she know that the right answer waits for her within the narrow stairwell of her dad’s apparel factory, precisely between the third and fourth floors?
In this tender story about a most unlikely romance, Eva takes the reader on a journey through a young woman’s heart bound for the unknown. Readers will experience the perseverance of true friendship, the joys of new love, the gift of forgiveness which comes from a truly fine life.
“Unconditional” is the third stand alone novel and was released in 2012.
Samantha Crawford is an acclaimed storybook artist, and she seemingly had it all until she lost the love that she cherished the most. Now fighting with despair, she is obsessed with track the killer of her husband down. Sam, without any hope and no leads, gets ready to take her own life until new providence intervenes and she gets reunited with Joe Bradford, her childhood friend.
Joe, who is dying of kidney disease, spends his final days serving fatherless kids in an under resourced community. Observing “Papa Joe’s” tireless love for “his kids”, Sam starts to discover a new purpose until she faces her heart’s desire. The hope and innocence of a child competes with revenge’s lure all in an effort to show Sam how, even during life’s darkest of circumstances, Love is above all.
“Chasing Sunsets” is the first novel in the “Cedar Key” series and was released in 2011. Kimberley Tucker’s Life has not turned out quite the way that she believed it would. A divorced mom of two, she resents her ex-husband for moving on with his life and living it up as she merely struggles to comprehend where it all went wrong.
When her sons spend five weeks of their summer vacation with their dad, Kim’s own dad suggests a respite in the family vacation home on tiny Cedar Key Island. While Kim revisits her childhood loves and memories, she quickly find that treasures in life are usually buried, and mistakes (both present and past) become redeemable in God’s hand.
Readers are sure to get swept away to an island retreat where they walk right alongside Kim while she finds that God’s answers might not come all that easily, however they still do come.
“Waiting for Sunrise” is the second novel in the “Cedar Key” series and was released in 2012. Life sometimes just gets the best of us. For some it is just the daily pressures, while for others it is the shadows from the past. For Patsy Milstrap, it is both. When she travels to the beautiful small town of Cedar Key on Florida’s Gulf Coast in search of healing, she never dreams for a second that her past is going to be there waiting for her.
With a large helping of Southern charm, “Waiting for Sunrise” is a touching story about young love, family, and the need for forgiveness.
