Donna Ball is a well known author from the United States who has written more than 90 successful novels. Most of her novels are based on the romance genre, whereas some of them have been written by her in the mystery and fiction genres. Donna was born in the year 1951 in North Georgia, United States and began her writing career from the year 1982 onwards. Other than writing under her real name, Donna also uses a number of pseudonyms for writing different styles of novels. Some of her prominent pen names are Rebecca Flanders, Donna Boyd, Donna Carlisle, Taylor Brady and Leigh Bristol. The ancestors of Donna’s family were among the first pioneer families of the town of North Georgia. In fact, her family members still live in the area of the land that was purchased in the year 1782 from the Cherokee. Because of her successful career as a novelist, Donna has given a number of broadcast interviews and numerous prints. She has also been quoted by a number of publications such as T.V. Guide, Detroit Free Press, Family Circle and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Her rich and famous personality has also allowed her to appear in famous television programs such as Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and the Entertainment Tonight. Donna operates an online website by herself that deals with the dog trainings. She is also part of many fundraising organizations for the betterment of the dogs.
Currently, Donna lives in her restored and turn-of-the-century barn in the northeast Georgia in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains along with her dogs, who have won a number of awards in various dog competitions for their obedience, canine musical freestyle and agility. Other than writing exciting novels, Donna also has interests in hiking, dog obedience training and oil painting. More than a dozen of the novels written by Donna have seen commercial success and the others have also been praised by many prominent critics and her fellow authors. Donna is particularly known for writing her novels based on the suspenseful plots, adventure and supernatural fantasy. Her works mostly include the women’s fiction. Almost all the novels written by Donna have been translated into more than a dozen languages and have been published in almost all the countries of the world virtually. Her successful writing career has helped her win a number of prestigious awards. Some of the include the Storytelling World award in 2001, the Maggie Award by Georgia Romance Writers, the Reviewer’s Choice Award by Romantic Times consecutively for 6 years from 1991 to 1996, the Author of the Year Award in 2000 and the Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as many others. Donna is often heard saying that people might not know her name but they might have read and appreciated one of her novels at some point. She also says that people who get stuck at the airports or pull out books to read at the beach probably take out one of her books off the rack.
The two most famous novel series’ written by author Donna Ball under her real name are the ‘Ladybug Farm’ and the ‘Raine Stockton Dog Mystery’. The Raine Stockton Dog Mystery series consists of a total of ten books which were published between the years 2006 and 2014. Author Donna has described Raine Stockton as a girl from a small town, hailing from the mountains of North Carolina. She suffers from a lot of problems in her life frequently. Most of her problems are related to men, money and dogs. Raine runs a dog training and boarding kennel business on a full-time basis and also does a forest service job that she does for part time. She also carries out a wilderness search and rescue and dog therapy work. Her life is so busy that she tries hard to balance all her jobs. Raine faces a hard time controlling her mischievous Golden Retriever named Cisco and its other canine crew. On top of all these problems in her life, she frequently gets distracted by murders happening around her.
The first novel of the series was published by the Signet publishing house in the year 2006. The novel was titled ‘Smoky Mountain Tracks’. In the opening sequence of the novel, the main character of the series named Raine Stockton is introduced as the native of North Carolina. She is described by the author as a dog trainer by profession and the former wife of a deputy sheriff. Raine very well knows the woods of the Hanover County. She used to volunteer for the Search and Rescue work, but had stopped doing so because of a tragic loss to her. However, after getting over the loss, Raine once again returns to her duty along with the help of her Golden Retriever named Cisco. Raine and Cisco begin to search for a 6 year old girl and her mother who had been kidnapped by some thugs and taken deep into the woods. Raine is aware of the fact that there is something more in the case than what just appears in front of the eyes and she strives hard to catch the kidnappers and save the girl and her mother. However, in her attempt of doing so, she must overcome her personal problems and must search in different directions, trusting Cisco to lead as all these can help her to get closer to the kidnappers
The second novel of the series was published under the title ‘Rapid Fire’. The novel was published by the Signet publishing house in the year 2006. The plot of the novel opens with the main protagonist named Raine Stockton, who continues with her kennel and doing training business as well as her part-time jobs. The summer becomes extremely hectic for Raine Stockton as the FBI comes to interrogate her in relation to former man named Andy Fontana, who had disappeared from Raine’s life after he was involved in a sabotage act that resulted in the death of a few people. Now, Fontana has become an eco-terrorist and is also on the list of the 10 most deadly and wanted terrorists. The FBI thinks that Raine could help them to catch him. They also believe that Fontana has returned to the wilderness in order to retrieve costly diamonds that he had hidden there before. Other that that, Fontana was also involved in a recent hit and run case as well as a case of property damage. Raine once again takes the help of her Golden Retriever Cisco and the two begin to discover the real story about the man whom she used to love. She is also determined to make him pay for his crimes if he is actually involved in the deaths of innocent people.

I got your book A Year on Ladybug Farm yesterday in a little thrift shop, and have just finished reading it.Enjoyed it . Will be looking for the rest of the series now.Your characters have become quite real to me and I want to see where life takes them from there.
