Diane Capri was born in Alabama and grew up in a farming town north of Detroit. At an early age, she was introduced to books and her childhood was described as filled with book reading. Diane has been always an insatiable reader, but her favorite story genre was crime fiction books with a particular interest in suspense, thriller and mystery.

Diane excelled in academics, and she graduated cum laude from Wayne Law School. Even when she was in Law School, Diane was putting her writing talent into good use by serving as the editor of the Wayne Law Review. Before Diane became a writer, she was a very accomplished lawyer and was ranked in the top 1% of lawyers in the US. She represented clients not only in the United States, but also around the world. She has practiced writing during her legal career by publishing nonfiction works. When she has her free time and during her travels, she continued writing fiction, but almost all of them were incomplete and unfinished. She honed her craft for writing by learning fiction when she is not practicing law or represent any clients.

In 1995, an unfortunate incident happened when her biggest client filed for bankruptcy. Suddenly, there was so much time left for her to write since she wasn’t busy with her legal works. Diane saw this as an opportunity to continue her passion for writing.

Early Works

Since Diane Capri loves stories about crime fiction as well as suspense and mystery, she created the character of Judge Willa Carson. She wrote Due Justice where the setting of the story was in her sunshine state of Florida. The main protagonist of her novel was Judge Willa Carson, a witty and stubborn woman who will stop at nothing to achieve true justice. Diane adds a bit of humor to her novel as well as made the story more fast-paced and thrilling.

The next characters that Diane created were Jennifer Lane and Jess Kimball. Jenny Lane is a young lawyer while Jess Kimball is an investigative journalist. Both are strong willed women, who are also relentless in seeking the truth and upholding justice. The three women characters are all included in Diane’s The Hunt for Justice Series, which is comprised of 10 books. Diane quickly found a publisher for her series and her fan base grew because of her catchy style of writing. The final novel in the Hunt for Justice Series was the 10th book entitled Cold Justice, A Judge Willa Carson Mystery.

Her success with the Hunt for Justice Series soon came to a standstill when she had a problem with her publisher and bankruptcy ensued. The books she created, as well as her writing career hit rock bottom and she had to start from scratch again.

Member of Prestigious Writing Organizations

Diane Capri is an active member of prestigious writing organizations such as Romance Writers of America, Author’s Guild, Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime. She is also a member of the board of the International Thriller Writers. One of the board members was Diane’s friend, Lee Child, who is also a well known bestselling author and the creator of the popular character Jack Reacher.

The Hunt for Jack Reacher Series

Since Lee and Diane are good friends, they often exchange ideas and talk about their characters. In 2009, Lee and Diane were at a cocktail party discussing where Jack Reacher is and it seems no one knows for sure. Diane was inspired by what the character Jack Reacher is doing in between books and she came up with the Hunt for Jack Reacher series. The books came with the blessing from Lee Child and it answers their question about where is Jack Reacher.
The first novel was entitled Don’t Know Jack that introduces the readers to the FBI special agent Kim Otto and Carlos Gaspar. The book was a great success and it was quickly followed up by two short story singles entitled Jack in a Box and Jack and Jill. Both stories still include the two special agents Otto and Gaspar.

The second novel from the series came out in September 15, 2013 that was called Get Back Jack. The reviews were all raving for the thrilling and exciting story and many fans were excited to read about the adventures of Otto and Gaspar as well as Jack Reacher again. All in all, there were 5 books in the Hunt for Jack Reacher series and the last one was Jack In the Green.

Jack Reacher in Film

Lee Child created the character Jack Reacher and it was the source of inspiration for Diane Capri to write her Hunt for Jack Reacher Series. Although Reacher was never seen in the series, the character was one of the driving forces of her stories. In 2011, Jack Reacher was made into a Hollywood film and was portrayed by Tom Cruise. The title of the movie was Jack Reacher and it was a huge box office success. All the Jack Reacher books are now optioned for filming and the sequel is soon to be released. Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Jack Reacher and they will adapt the story from the Jack Reacher book Never Go Back.

Diane’s Passion For Writing Turned Successful

All of Diane’s books have been number one on several bestseller lists. Some of these lists include the Thriller & Mystery, Hard-Boiled Mystery, Mystery, Police Procedural, Legal Thriller and Women Sleuths both in the US and UK. Her Judge Wilhelmina Carson series garnered the Top Pick from the prestigious Romantic Times. Her books are widely read by people all over the world and it is translated into 20 territories.

This is the first time I have heard of this series. And I am already hooked. I am looking forward to owning and reading these books. I have read all of Lee Childs Jack Reacher books and own most of them, and this will add to my collection.

Thank-you for killing Burke! I’m a person who’s first entertainment choice has been reading for decades. I’m nearing the end of The Gulag Archipelago now. WW2 and history in general has always been a favorite. I love Lee Child (of course), Sue Grafton, David Baldacci, Vince Flynn and Erle Stanley Gardner among others. Point is I can enjoy almost anything on a printed page. I rarely encounter a character that seems completely unlikeable, but Burke is on my list. Kim deserves better, especially with (the evil?) Cooper hovering in the background. I enjoy the camaraderie between Kim and Gaspar not unlike how much fun Sam and Callen can be on NCIS LA. With your series it’s like getting two Reacher books a year and you know that can’t be bad! Keep up the good work and keep them coming.
