Daydreamer (Series by Susie Tate)
Susie Tate writes the “Daydreamer” series of romance novels.
The books are connected in a shared world and they have shared characters. The books stand alone and can be read in any order.
“Daydreamer” is the first novel in the “Daydreamer” series and was released in 2024. Lucy Mayweather (a disorganized and scruffy daydreamer) is like a fish out of water at the high-powered offices of her brother’s billionaire best friend. When she agreed to work for Felix, she had no idea quite how cutthroat his world, or even he, would be. She only wanted escape from her reclusive life and be closer to her childhood crush, hoping that he might notice her.
However she is even lonelier in London than she has even been in her tiny village back home. The boy that she grew up with has been replaced by this ruthless, powerful, and extremely attractive man that does not tolerate incompetence at all and who no longer appears to find her quirks at all cute. Instead, he gives her nearly daily lectures about her general crapness, and appears to be blind to all the bullying that she endures from his colleagues.
For Felix, agreeing to give her a job was a mistake. This shy bookworm with her head up in the clouds, who wears tattered jumpers, carries around multiple pens in her hair and has this super obvious crush on him has to be the worst assistant in London, by far. However he has always had this soft spot for the quirky little girl that lived in her own world and told the best stories. Now that little girl is all grown up and he cannot quit thinking about her.
After Felix gives in to his bone deep longing for his best friend’s little sister, he begins feeling more than he has in a number of years. However Lucy has secrets, and he’s got trust issues. When his inability to trust her leads to this horrible betrayal and places her in danger, he is faced with the prospect of losing her forever. Since this new, traumatized, and hardened Lucy is not at all like the daydreaming pushover that she used to be.
This is a full length, grumpy billionaire boss, brother’s best friend romance. Just a warning: there’s swearing throughout the book, and workplace harassment and assault.
“Gold Digger” is the second novel in the “Daydreamer” series and was released in 2024. He is a billionaire Duke, owning a good 10% of the UK, and he has been voted Britain’s Sexiest Aristocrat, however Oliver Harding still has no clue what to do about the massive crush that he’s got on his cleaner. Lottie is clumsy and not really that great at her job, however her smile lights up the room and her laugh’s infectious, she is insanely good at chess, and he cannot quit thinking about her.
Aware of the power imbalance, he sets out to make her his, and believe she is getting somewhere up until she totally betrays his trust. So he tells himself he hates her now, and makes sure that everybody knows it. However when he realizes that his self-absorption and privilege have made him entitled and totally blind, he is determined to win her back. A fake engagement could be a bit extreme, however his family had been getting its own way for five hundred years, and the Duke of Buckingham wasn’t any different from his ancestors.
Lottie’s life is quite the struggle. She has had to fight for everything ever since going into foster care when she was 12. The Duke of Buckingham would not understand struggle if it smacked him right in the face. He has got family and money coming out of his ears; she’s got 20 quid in her account currently and zero family other than her selectively mute and traumatized 8 year old baby sister, whom Lottie’s determined to keep safe.
Lottie has zero time for handsome Dukes with silver tongues. So she tells herself that she is not heartbroken once he turns on her just like she knew he would, putting everything that she worked so very hard for in jeopardy. She really needs to concentrate on her own survival. However she underestimates quite how charming Ollie can be. Or what a formidable opponent that his centuries old, innate arrogance makes him.
Susie delivers a billionaire, enemies to lovers, grumpy boss, fake engagement, contemporary romance. Warnings for mentions of domestic violence, past childhood neglect, and assault.
“Outlier” is the third novel in the “Daydreamer” series and was released in 2025. Vicky is an outlier. An outlier in the business world, and in society, as well. Vicky is even an outlier in her own family. She knows full well that people find her to be annoying and weird, and she is resigned to her loneliness up until she sees him. Having never before been attracted to any man, her new obsession with rough, burly, and ready Mike and the fact that she cannot breathe whenever he is close by comes as a shock to her.
But unfortunately, her cold beauty does not appeal to Mike. The woman that they all call the Ice Princess is the opposite of his type, and her obvious crush irritates him. How many times does he need to make it clear that he is uninterested before she gets the message?
However there are certain things about Vicky that Mike is unaware of. Reasons that she behaves the way she does. Vulnerability, loneliness, and kindness, these are things that she keeps well hidden. And information that her family really should have shared with him. So when those fireworks begin, and she screams, he acts on instinct, pulling her body in his. When she buries into his chest, trembling in fear, for some reason he is not so annoyed by her anymore.
This is a full length, enemies to lovers romance with a grumpy yet protective hero and a neurodiverse heroine.
Trigger warning for mentions of child abuse and neglect and assault.
