David Field is a published author of fiction.
David Field was born in Nottingham after the war. He attended the local high school and then higher learning, studying and earning his law degree. After that he became a practitioner of criminal law and an academic for the rest of his career. He emigrated to Australia in 1989. He resides there to this day.
The author combined his loves of English and history together in unique historical novels. It was a way for the author to escape from life and its realities while working criminal law. But he didn’t start to get them published until retirement and when he was close to it. That was when the literary agencies were also seeing an alternative in the form of digital publishing and seemed appealing compared to print publishers, agencies, and slips informing him of rejection.
He has also had more time to pursue writing as more than a hobby. It used to be something that he did in his spare time but he can now go after it on a full time basis! The author enjoys living with his family in New South Wales. These include his wife as well as his children and grandchildren.
David Field is the creator and the author of the Enright Mystery series. This historical mystery series first became available to readers in 2008 with the publication of the debut book. The Gaslight Stalker is the first novel in this series and was quickly followed by the sequel, which is titled The Night Caller. There are several books in this series so if you are looking for something that’s going to be fun to read and has a few stories to check out, the Enright series might be it!
The Gaslight Stalker is the first novel in the Enright Mystery series. This is a great mystery book that is perfect for anyone that likes Sherlock Holmes or any other intriguing mysteries that are set in the past.
The city is London, and the setting is the nineteenth century. The year is 1888 and everyone living in the area is worried because there’s a killer that is apparently running rampant on the streets. The serial killer is one that will enter the pages of history and is called Jack the Ripper.
Someone has got to stop this killer, because he is taking out women in the city at a deadly and scary rate. The area of Whitechapel is busy and full of noise because of celebrations for the August Bank Holiday. People are excited to celebrate and spirits are running high. That is, until someone turns up dead.
Martha Turner is the name of the woman, and she has been brutally murdered. Esther is her friend and is a seamstress that works as a detective. She is taking this personally and wants to do whatever it takes to track down the person responsible. She is going to take a killer off of the street and avenge the death of her friend.
Meanwhile, Jack Enright is a police officer. He may be young, but he is the one that is going to be taking the lead when it comes to this case. He will soon join Esther on a professional relationship that might just end up turning personal too. But then another murder goes down and this killing is yet another slasher death. This is when rumors and whispers on the street start going wild, about a man that is being called Jack the Ripper.
The cops are definitely starting to take the wrong path. The two of them know that they have no choice but to take on the case full force and try to get it wrapped up. However, the pair find that they are quickly starting to navigate through the darker parts of London, all the way down to its seedy underbelly.
They’re doing whatever it takes to track down a killer. Can they do what it takes before he strikes again and kills another woman of London? They are going to find that they have their work cut out for them as this evil presence makes its way through the streets, taking victims as he goes.
Whitechapel needs to be set free, but can it be done? Read the first book in this series all the way to the very last page to find out!
The Night Caller is the second novel in the Enright series by David Field. A killer is terrorizing London. The year is 1891. While the Ripper killings appear to blessedly have come to a close, the brutal terror has not ceased yet.
It is also true that the citizens of London have not yet recovered from that time, but the trauma will not stop as women are running into more problems. They are having lots of experiences with someone breaking in and getting in their homes to not only steal their undergarments but leave threatening messages for the owners or residents once they leave.
Jack and Esther Jacobs are back for more in this mystery thriller. The police are not all that interested in the case since no valuables have been taken and most of all no murders have taken place. The cops don’t take the accusations as seriously as they perhaps should, but Esther is willing to hear the victims out.
She is all the more likely to believe them because she knows one of the ladies that was affected by this personally. The more that she examines the details of the case, the more that she thinks that there could be something very sinister at play.
To solve this case, she will need the help of the man that she is engaged to marry. She is starting to wonder whether there might be more that they can find out together, and Jack is just the guy for the job.
Together they stand a shot at finding out whether individuals are being randomly targeted, or there is a greater pattern that they still do not yet appreciate emerging. Calculated or the efforts of someone with a sexual deviancy problem?
