Daniel Judson is a published author of fiction. He has been the recipient of various awards and has won the Shamus Award, for which he was a finalist to win four times. He has written several fictional novels.
Judson was born on January 1, 1962. He would further his education by attending Southampton College. He recounts that the time that he spent hanging out in the ritzy Hamptons as well as the parts never destined to make the pages of society provided him with plenty of future inspiration. It would be the main setting and inspire the characters contained in Voyeur. He currently resides in the state of Connecticut.
Daniel Judson is the creator and the author of the Gin Palace trilogy. This series first became available to readers in 2001 with the release of the debut novel, which is titled The Poisoned Rose. The second book in this series would come out shortly after and is titled The Bone Orchard. Since this is a trilogy, the fictional series would not be complete without the release of a third novel. The third and final installment of the Gin Palace series was published in 2012 and bears the same title that the series does.
The Poisoned Rose is the first novel in the Gin Palace trilogy by author Daniel Judson. In this debut story, readers get the chance to meet Private Investigator Mac MacManus for the first time. If you have been wanting to read a great crime thriller, then get your hands on this first book in the series and catch all of the action for yourself!
Declan MacManus goes by the nickname of Mac. He’s a part time private investigator, and little does he know that someone out there sees him as a problem. The police chief is corrupt and wants to maintain his power no matter what.
If that takes getting rid of Mac MacManus, then that’s going to be what is addressed. Mac is the exact opposite of this corrupt officer, even if that polar opposite nature ends up being something of a curse. He’s always know what is wrong and what is right, and that sense has always been unwavering.
Mac is loyal to the few close friends that he has and would do anything for him. He has gained a reputation personally and professionally for being someone that Southampton’s working class can come to when they are facing times of dire need.
One night, Mac is the witness to a homicide. The rain swept October night is an experience that he will never forget. Along the way, he has found out that the East End has a way of appearing one way but concealing things too. Nothing here is what it appears to be at face value. Now this PI knows for sure that there is a killer on the loose.
Mac is doing whatever he can to track down what he believes to be a hired killer. Mysterious and elusive, he’s got to find them and stop them for good so that they do not strike again. He may be the sole individual standing between the killer and endless future victims.
Along the way, he may find he is reunited with a family that used to be prominent but has now fallen from grace. He used to know them so well. But there is more to this story than that and something that is darker than anything he could ever have predicted is going on here.
When a secret that has long been hidden might just come out, this private eye is the only person that will be capable of seeking and delivering justice. In this town that is so easily run by the powerful and the rich, he has become the sole individual that can do anything about it.
Will Mac triumph and get his man in the end? Or is he going to find out that sometimes you come up short despite your best efforts? Read this debut novel in the series to find out!
The Bone Orchard is the second novel in the Gin Palace series by Daniel Judson. If you thought that the thrilling events of the first book following PI Mac around were interesting, be sure to check out this exciting sequel so that you don’t miss a second!
If you ask Mac, this town might be up to something that is no good. Could it be murder? The Hamptons is known for being the hot spot during the summer and it is simply the place to be for the rich, the beautiful, and the status obsessed.
Anyone who is anyone comes to the glamorous and trendy Hamptons to spend their summer. Some of it is just as glam as it looks, but there’s another world that lies hidden under the surface. With desperate secrets to be hidden and dark interior drama, there is a lot happening that doesn’t always get printed about in the press.
Discretion is key when you run in circles such as these. They’re all gorgeous and tan and without a care in the world. But then Labor Day comes every year and slowly but surely, the rich people leave. That is precisely the time when the locals are left to make their own living.
That includes Mac MacManus. A local in town, he’s just trying to get the bills paid. He really wants to survive every month and do a bit better if he can. But for that he needs cases, and he only works as a private investigator on a part time basis.
Mac is not just a detective but really good at self defense. He’s even better at self destructing. He’s seen his share of dark things, but nothing that he has glimpsed up to this point could have prepared him for what he’ll discover.
Mac is on a deserted road in the dark when he sees a single car wreck. It could’ve been chance, but it was murder. He follows the trail, going after clues until he starts to find out that it’s all one big conspiracy. While running out of chances, luck, and time, can this private eye crack the case? Read this book to find out!
