Originally coming out on the Kindle platform back in 2021, this would be the fifth title in the ‘Cole Brothers’ series of romance novels. Coming out on the 16th of April, it would provide another stand-alone title that could be read by itself, as they don’t need to be read in order. Following on from each other thematically, they feature different brothers from the Cole family, so there’s only a few intertwining narrative elements and arcs.

Best friends since they were children, now famous baseball star Jared Cole has always had Fiona’s back, as they’ve always been there for each other. Then a viral video threatens to ruin his career as a pro-pitcher, leading to the two of them having a fake relationship for the benefit of the cameras. Soon though, the supposedly fake relationship starts to feel extremely real, and neither of them can deny the chemistry between them. Will they overcome their difficulties, can they finally find each other, and what happens when Fiona starts to realize she may not actually be ‘faking it with my best friend?’

A fun and engaging read, this is an entertaining take on the romance genre, hitting all the right beats along the way. It knows exactly what it’s doing, maintaining the pace with expert precision throughout, whilst creating compelling characters. The reader feels as if they really get to know them, as they can relate to their relationship in what is a grounded look at modern romance.

Boss with Benefits

Arriving through the Kindle digital publishing platform once again, this would publish on the 26th of July in 2021 as well. It would be the third book in the ‘Bosses and Babies’ series, setting up another stand-alone romance filled with passion. Using the thematic premise of attractive bosses and their employees, this series looks at the relationships that build between them both.

Working for a boss who is supposedly ‘LA’s sexiest CEO,’ Violet is initially perturbed by the arrogance of Jack McCann. It seems he wants a slave as opposed to an individual in his employ, something which really pushes Violet to the limit. Then he humiliates her in front of the whole office and she stands up to him, after which, instead of being fired, they both share a passionate embrace. Will they overcome their differences and become an item, can they deal with their passion for one another, and what will happen to the boss with benefits?

Featuring a strong hero leading the way, this book really does have everything when it comes to passionate romance. As a character Violet also plays off well against Jack’s personality, as the two of them really do have a clear chemistry on the page. This passion and chemistry is something that Monroe manages to portray in a vivid manner that instantly draws the reader in, keeping them there till the very end.
