A Court of Thorns and Roses is a young adult fantasy series by American author of science fiction, young adult, and fantasy books, Sarah J. Maas. The series stars Feyre, a hunter who is thrown into the world of faeries by chance.
Throughout the series, Fayre overcomes different challenges and becomes stronger over time. Other notable characters include Rysand, Tamlin, and Lucien. Besides all the supernatural things happening, Feyre is going to fall in love, discover herself, and change her love interest after leaning from her past. Join the protagonist on a journey where unforeseen forces are at work, and there is enough danger to keep you on your toes to the end.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
This is the first book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses Series. The story features Feyre, a fierce girl who will go to extra lengths to protect the people she loves. Feyre’s survival depends on her hunting and killing ability. In the forest where she lives, food doesn’t come easy. It is on a cold and bleak winter day when Fayre spots a deer, and she can’t resist its flesh. Unfortunately, the deer is being chased by a wolf. Feyre will have to kill the wolf first to get the deer. This single hunt changes Feyre’s life by dragging her to the magical kingdom.
Feyre’s capture accuses her of murdering a faerie. A jeweled mask covers the man’s face, but Fayre can tell there is a lot he is hiding behind. Her hearing goes on as planned, but Feyre is quick to notice how closely guarded her presence in court is. Once she learns the reason, the feelings she has for the man who dragged her into this world change from hostility to passion. Fayre knows that she has to fight the ancient curse; otherwise, this intriguing being with piercing green eyes will be removed from her life forever.
This book comes with an intriguing cast. Feyre is one feisty girl, and even when confronted with challenges, she faces them head-on. Then there is Lucien, a strong and honorable man who matches the true definition of a good friend. Rysand, on the other hand, is dark and mysterious, but behind his cunning mind is a true high lord. Tamlin seems like a great guy, but he is a liar to the core. The relationship between Feyre and Tamlin doesn’t read like it will last as it is minimal if any, chemistry. However, the love scenes between these two will, at times, get intense, and it helps that Tamlin is such a man candy. Feyre and Lucien’s friendship is admirable, while it is clear that Rysand has a massive crush on Feyre.
A Court of Thorns and Roses is a perfect choice if you love faerie stories. The faeries in this story are dark, articulate, and dangerous. Falling in love with Feyre is going to be easy. Who wouldn’t love a girl who does so much for others without expecting anything in return? Her character is well fleshed out, and as the story builds, you will understand her feelings and the reason for her actions.
Additionally, the plot and world-building are epic. The author paints beautiful images, and the descriptions are so vivid you will get lost in this fiction world. There will be many twists and turns along the way, and the ending will leave you breathless. Simply a fantastic story told most beautifully.
A Court of Mist and Fury
A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Here we meet Feyre once again. The young girl had already managed to get herself out of Amarantha’s clutches and returned to Spring Court. However, this came at a high cost. Her heart is still human. Despite having the powers of a High Fae, Fayre cannot forget what she had to go through to save Tamlin’s people. There is also the bargain she made with Rhysand to think about.
Feyre will find herself navigating between power, politics, and passion. A greater evil materializes, and it seems like Feyre is the only person who can stop it. However, victory will only come if she can heal her broken soul and make a solid plan for her future.
This is a story of love and life and all associated grey areas. There are going to be dark days, and when one is about giving up, the wind of change will bring something completely different. The protagonist will be forced to make soul-wrenching sacrifices. At some point, she will feel like she is drifting into nothingness. In the end, Feyre will let the moon and sky lead her into a glorious rebirth where she will enjoy her hard-fought happiness. The author does a great job of developing the characters and let the reader into their journey of transformation.
Just like in the first book, Tamlin will continue making grave mistakes. His constant desire for control, coupled with his feelings for Feyre, continues to cloud his judgment. Unfortunately, Feyre’s love interest is in the habit of making rash decisions, and he is not interested in rectifying his ways. Rhys bad boy vibe continues to make him likable, and the author continues to shed light on his selflessness, intensity, and kindness. Despite his many positive attributes, Rhys’s self-doubt is crippling. His past continues to haunt him, and unfortunately, he has not found a better way to channel all the heartaches.
A Court of Mist and Fury is one intriguing sequel. The author is successful in creating characters that will stay with you long after you are done reading the book. Here, the author expands the world and wonder outlined in the previous book. You will get to see the protagonist grow from a feisty girl who makes the most careless mistakes to a young woman who thinks before she acts and takes her head wherever her heart goes. The narration is flawless, and the many turns will keep you glued to the pages to the end.
i really love this series you are an inspirational writer
