Fame and Obsession is the first book in Lords of Lyre series by Cora Kenborn. We are introduced to a struggling author Phoebe Ryan who deserts her hometown and travels to New York to leave her dark past behind.

On her adventures, she wasn’t anticipating to meet the popular rock star or to be persuaded into writing his autobiography. However, she tries as hard as possible to maintain her focus on becoming a published author, despite the strong affection she has for the young handsome rock star, not to mention all the baggage that comes with him.

On the other hand, Julian’s Bale world was forever changed one drunken night, and that almost ruined him. He is weighed down by guilt and holds himself accountable for an accident he could have avoided. He will play by the rules but swears his hot and sexy ghostwriter won’t ever get that story out of him. As much as he loves her, if he has to choose between her and his dream, it’s no contest.

Julian and Phoebe give in to forbidden love, and their public love risks their lives. An obsessive fan is on the loose, and now their secret is out, it makes them both targets. The stalker is willing to do whatever it takes to have Julian for herself, even if it means revealing their dark past and eliminate Phoebe.
Fame and Obsession is a fantastic read that will give you everything you could have ever wished for in a novel that you can’t put down. Cora Kenborn does a tremendous job of introducing us to the extremely hot bad boy rocker and a strong female heroine. There is also a fantastic addition of supporting characters that will leave you wanting to read more books in the series.

Julian is a famous Rockstar who has come through a dark and tormenting past. His way of handling everything in his life after the traumatic event involved hiding behind the booze and sleeping with random women. On the other hand, it is Phoebe. She’s had her demons as well that forced her to change her identity and move to another city. With the dreams of becoming an author, she lands a job of writing for a local music mag. Her work aligns her with the past of Julian.

The path that Phoebe and Julian take seems crazy when you figure out that Phoebe is trying to stay under the radar. But Julian won’t take a no for an answer, and this throws her into the spotlight where she likes it or not. There are plenty of twists and turns in this book that will leave your fingers feeling warm from turning the pages quickly to know what’s going to happen next. Phoebe’s plans don’t go as planned, and soon she’ll find herself locked in those rock star’s arm, but as she’s always known- nothing can last forever, or will it? Julian, on the other hand, is determined to keep his princess from harm’s way. He can’t allow anything to happen to her, even as he receives threatening texts. Just as he is determined to keep her safe, she too has to keep him safe. The secrets from her past could come back and crush them all together.

Additionally, the author has done a fantastic job of creating supporting characters that help bring out the best from the main characters. The suspense in this novel mixed with a feisty lady and the handsome rock star will leave you looking forward to the next series installment.

The first book in the Carrera Cartel series can be summarized as suspenseful, thrilling, and fantastic. And the author has written the book uniquely like no other as she draws you into her stories and keeps you on the edge of your seat. She tosses surprises along the way and, at times, breaks your heart. This is one of the books you’ll find hard to put down.

The first book in the Carrera Cartel series introduces us to a tough girl named Eden. She was made a woman of steel by all the things that happened to her in her life. But being a woman of steel doesn’t mean she doesn’t have feelings even though she won’t admit openly. She saw the brutal killing of a person close to her, and this set her on the path for revenge. She never thought that the reaper was to play an important role in finding the person who was killing her loved one but also would be the person she would fall deeply in love with even though he held her captive.

Valentin Carrera was the gang leader of the cartel in the US, and the only person above him was his father, the leader of the cartel in Mexico. He was a brutal man, but then it was the nature of his business. Valentin had a major trauma in his life that shaped him into the man he is today. He swore never to let anyone close to him ever again. He never anticipated that this redhead would have worked her way into his life and make his reconsider every rule he’d set for himself.

Cora Kenborn is a fantastic author. You’d be doing yourself a favor reading one of her books to see the dynamics she brings to her characters, whether they are drug lords or sexy rock stars. She’ll take you in a wild roller coaster leaving you wanting of her books.
