Conrad Wesselhoeft is an American author of fiction.

Wesselhoeft was born in Seattle, Washington. Before he was in print, Conrad had a job in Singapore as a tugboat hand and served in Polynesia as a volunteer with the Peace Corps. After that, he decided to pursue a career in the field of journalism.

Conrad worked on a variety of newspapers as part of the editorial staff. These include publications such as the esteemed New York Times among others. He once met novelist Scott O’Dell, who critiqued some of his early work and taught him ‘many things’ when it comes to writing. He currently resides in the area of west Seattle.

Conrad Wesselhoeft first came out with his debut fictional novel in 2010. It is a story for young adults and is contemporary fiction that anyone can read. It is titled Adios, Nirvana. The second novel followed and is also in the young adult genre of contemporary fiction.

Adios, Nirvana is this author’s first book. If you love books in the style of John Green and works like The Fault In Our Stars or books geared for youth, then you might really like this series. In this debut stand alone story, readers get to meet the character of Jonathan for the first time.

Jonathan has been having a rough go of life lately. Things have been very hard for him ever since his brother died. It seems like things are just never going to go back to the way that they used to be. Now he is getting worried about his state of mind, because he feels like he doesn’t have the tightest hold on what reality is.

He used to have so many hobbies that he enjoyed and participated in high school activities regularly. Now it seems that it all has changed, seemingly overnight. Jonathan was named to be one of the best young poets at Taft last year and was known for his advanced playing of the guitar. But it seems that his gifted status has transformed overnight into an entirely new identity.

Jonathan is still an artist, but he’s also sort of the mascot of the tortured artist now. Not that he can really help it. He is managing to further his bad boy attitude by extending his apathy about attending school fully. He’s not showing up and it’s a stark contrast to the way that his attendance and grades and everything about him was last year.

Before his brother passed away, everything was fine. It seemed like there wasn’t this gray cloud of gloom hanging over him all of the time. Now Jonathan is probably going to have to be held back and do the eleventh grade classes all over again. It just doesn’t seem like he’s going to be able to turn it around, and he knows personally that his grief and his depression are taking over.

It seems like nothing is going to get him out of feeling this way. Even though his grades are in the gutter, Jonathan is about to find out that no one is alone who has friends. Jonathan will discover that there are people around him who care about him and want to see him do well. He had no idea that he had support and had not really been looking for it.

When his principal and Jonathan’s English teacher find out that he is in danger of failing, they are not going to let that happen. Neither is his group of Thicks, who vow that they are all going to become seniors and make it to the twelfth grade together. All of them band together to have Jonathan’s back and motivate him to succeed.

No one wants to see him fail, and Jonathan is relieved to know that he has support even in dark times. Sometimes you can’t control what happens to you in life. You just have to try and make the most of it and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

An entire community is rooting for him, and now he is going to try and do whatever he can to pass his grades and try to remember his brother too. What will happen? He also has to contend with the internal damage on an emotional level regarding what he went through when there was a death in the family– a violent one.
