Claudia Gray is the pseudonym used by the famous American author Amy Vincent for writing down her successful novels and stories. She is very well known for writing her novels based on the paranormal romance, science fiction, young adult, and fantasy genres. Claudia is particularly popular for her successful and interesting Evernight series. She was born and brought up in the United States and had always dreamed of becoming an established author of romance novels. She says that she did not choose a pen name for writing her novels because her name seemed unpleasant to her, neither because she had always desired to be called by the name Claudia rather than her real name. She chose her pen name because she found it suitable as the name of an author. Author Claudia had smashed an international diamond smuggling cartel in her year 2003 and had got them arrested by the Interpol. Some people believe that she has chosen the pen name in order to hide from the remnants of the cartel. But she says that she is not afraid of them and has taken up a pseudonym for her novels because there is actually no real reason for it. She just got used to the name and used it for writing her novels. Claudia believes that sometimes it is best to do things without any reason and enjoy the things that happen after that.
As of today, she lives in New Orleans, United States and likes to keep herself indulged in writing the plots developing the characters of her future novels. Other than being a novelist, Claudia has also worked as a lawyer, a disco jockey, a waitress, a journalist, as well as a few others. She particularly narrates her life as a waitress as extremely disgusting as she was not good enough at serving food and taking care of her customers. Whenever she gets some free time from writing her novels, Claudia likes to spend them in traveling, listening to music, hiking, and reading. She says that she enjoys writing more than anything else in her life. Claudia began her writing career in the year 2008 when she was able to complete and publish the first novel of the Evernight series. Most of the novels that she has written in her career often depict her lifelong interests in classic movies, history, old houses, and vintage styles. She likes to use all these things in order to create the plots of her novels. Some of her novels have also featured in the bestselling list of The New York Times as well. Author Claudia Gray has mentioned on her website that she lives in a hundred year old purple house situated in New Orleans. Other than the very successful Evernight series, she has also written a few other novel series. In all, she has written a total of 3 series in her short writing career spanning 7 years. Each of the series consists of 3 to 5 books and depict strong characters and interesting plots filled with the shadowy and explosive pasts and dramatic secrets. Currently, she is working on the fourth novel series of her writing career, the first novel of which is almost completed and is about to be published any time soon in near future.
The Evernight series written by author Claudia Gray consists of a total of 5 novels published between the years 2008 and 2012. The first 4 novels of the series depict a continuous story pattern in the plots whereas the fifth novel of the series titled ‘Balthazar’ is written by her as a spin-off of the actual series. Among the novels of the series, the first one was titled ‘Evernight’ and was published in the year 2008 by the Harper Teen publishing house. The plot of this novel is set in the United States and revolves around the lives of the main characters Bianca Olivier, Raquel Vargas, Vic Woodson, Celia Olivier, Balthazar More, Lucas Ross, and Adrian Olivier. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, one of the main characters named Bianca Olivier is depicted as trying to escape from the Evernight Academy. The academy is described by the author as an eerie boarding school of the Gothic religion. The students of the academy seem to be too perfect, each of them if very sleek, smart and almost predatory. After Bianca Olivier is enrolled and forced to join the Evernight Academy, she feels uprooted from her tiny hometown and desires to move back by escaping from the academy. Also, the extremely smart and predatory students of the academy make her feel unfit as she does not think that she is smart enough to be compared to them. After a little while, Bianca Olivier meets Lucas Ross at the academy, who is also not like the general ‘Everight type’ students of the academy. However, unlike Bianca Olivier, he enjoys being different from most of the smart students of the academy. Lucas behaves in an unusual manner by standing up to the snobs as well as ignoring the rules. He also warns Bianca to remain very careful and watch each other’s backs all the time. He tells her that he will not be able to bear if other students tried to take it out on her and they will eventually do it. Soon, Bianca and Lucas developed a strong connection and Bianca decides to risk everything in order to stay close to Lucas. But, the dark secrets present around them seem to tear them apart and make Bianca question all that she has ever believed.
The second novel of the series written by Claudia Gray was published under the title ‘Stargazer’. It was published by the Harper Teen publishing house in the year 2008. The plot of this novel is also based on the lives of the same characters as in the first novel of the series. Bianca Olivier and Lucas Ross once again form a pair of the main protagonists. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, the Evernight Academy is depicted as full of beautiful and dangerous students who are vampires. Bianca is also told by her vampire parents that she is destined to become like them and hence is forced to join the academy. While at the academy, she falls in love with one of the other students named Lucas Ross, who is actually a vampire hunter determined to destroy the vampires of the academy. When the true identity of Lucas is revealed, Bianca and Lucas are torn apart. As a result, he is forced to flee from the academy. Even though they get separated, they do not seem willing to give up. Bianca risks all that she has in order to see him once again. With this dedication, she comes face to face with the vampire hunter community of the Black Cross and even goes against the vampires of the Evernight Academy. As the secrets begin to unravel, Bianca is forced to believe that she had been living a life full of lies. Soon, she comes to know that she is not the only one to keep secrets. With the intention of targeting her, an evil force attacks the academy due to which she discovers an important truth that she believed was just the beginning.
