Author Christopher G. Nutall has been planning out science fiction books he wanted to write since he first learned to read, which started at a young age. Nutall quickly developed interests in thriller, sci-fi, and fantasy books. He was born and grew up in Edinburgh in the year 1982, the same year as the Falklands War. One time, the library questioned his right to borrow the latest Tom Clancy book, as he was only nine at that time, something that irritated him.
During this time, he did not watch a whole lot of television, so his interests were formed by comics and books. He was thirteen years old before he saw a single episode of Star Trek.
As he was growing up, he started becoming more and more interested in political and historical affairs, starting with World War II. He saw how the different economic, political, and social histories provided a basis for putting together his own time lines for his stories, something he did not know at the time.
Christopher once created a website full of alternate history, before graduating to penning full length novels and was called Changing the Times. This was a challenge he found that he enjoyed. He was able to get better as he went, and was able to get feedback from some like minded helped him quite a bit even if he looked ignorant. Which did happen more than once.
He went to college to become a librarian, due to his love of books and wanting to work with them for the rest of his life. Looking back, he wonders how practical this education was, despite the education he truly got.
Once he graduated, he found no jobs after going back to Edinburgh. He worked in a used bookstore, and volunteered in a charity shop. Christopher even did some slave labor at an old folks home. What this last thing taught him was that not one of his older relatives would be heading to one. He probably showed the elderly folks more compassion and care than any of the carers.
After he graduated from university, he started writing full-time. He publishes through Amazon Kindle Direct. His first novel, “Patriotic Treason” was released in the year 2011; it is the first book in his “Martial Law” books.
He read a thriller that changed his life. It was about some guys, pretty omnipotent ones, looking for world domination and not getting it. Despite the world being a bad place to live, he wanted to see what it would have looked like. Believing he could do better, he set out to try to.
Christopher wrote his first manuscript in the year 2005. He is not surprised that it got rejected, despite thinking it was genius at the time. You need thick skin and ego, two things he says are important to have as a writer. He believes the world he created was tons more fascinating than the ones the authors were offering before letting the bad guys win.
“The Empire’s Corps” is the first novel in the “Empire’s Corps” series, which was released in the year 2012. Anarchy is breaking out everywhere while The Galactic Empire is dying. After a disaster of a mission against some terrorists on Earth, Captain Edward Stalker (from the Terran Marine Corps) tells some home truths to some of the most powerful men the Empire has. He and his men get exiled to Avalon, which is a world that is on the Rim of the Empire. This should have been an easy posting for this crew.
There are bandits infesting the countryside, as well as an insurgency that is threatening to topple the Empire’s slight control over Avalon. Not to mention a corrupt civil government that wants to see what it can extort from its people than fighting a war. These Marines find that they are caught up in a chaotic whirlwind of economic and political issues. They fight to preserve Avalon before any competing factions are able to tear the world apart. If anyone is able to do it, it is them. They are Marines, after all.
“No Worse Enemy” is the second novel in the “Empire’s Corps” series, which was released in the year 2012. Six months have passed since Colonel Edward Stalker and his crew were left on Avalon. Since then, all of Avalon has been in isolation from the rest of the settled universe. That ended just recently.
There is a mysterious organization of pirates that wants to take the place over, and the Marines find they are fighting against a shadowy power. While there is a young civilian has been kidnapped, forced to be in a pirate crew. They are struggling to preserve some semblance of the Empire’s order after it left, but the pirates, it seems, have better resources and an unstoppable plan. After the Empire has gone, what is going to take over?
“When The Bough Breaks” is the third novel in the “Empire’s Corps” series, which was released in the year 2013. The Galactic Empire is in the process of dying. The Grand Senators are in their high towers plotting to plan and struggle to keep a hole of a bigger part of their power. The poor are on the streets just trying to stay alive another day. Anarchy and chaos are running rampant throughout Earth’s mega cities. While huge corporations start getting stricter and colony worlds plan on declaring their independence and escaping the Empire and their increasing demands to get resources. The hundreds of years of mismanagement are starting to catch up with humans. The end cannot be put off much longer.
Specialist Belinda Lawson (who is a Marine Pathfinder and was able to survive the battle on Han) is given the assignment to guard Childe Rolan (Heir to the Imperial Throne). She must also try getting him ready to be Emperor. Roland is both a puppet, and spoiled rotten brat. He might also just be the only hope the Empire has of being saved, assuming he can be saved in time.
Shadowy figures try making their last bid for their nemesis, and it might be all she can do to keep her young man alive.
