Author C. L. Stone writes New Adult and Young Adult romance novels, and sometimes they have a twist of fantasy to them. Her work has made it to the top of the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists, which she self publishes. Stone also loves drinking iced mocha coffees.

She used to live in Charleston, South Carolina and lives around Cajuns.

“Introductions” is the first novel in “The Ghost Bird” series and was released in the year 2012. Sang has a mom that is afraid to go out, and a father that is rarely around, and she hates the isolation that traps her in the shadows. All she would like is to start anew and be accepted by her peers as an ordinary person. She was usually cast out and by herself, simply because she was different.

Her family moves into a brand new school district, and Sang is able to befriend a group of boys that seem to be perfection. She bonds with the boys, and is grateful for this influence, as it contrasts with the negative influence her parents gave. She hopes that she can learn what it is like to have a natural relationship with buddies.

The boys have some secrets that they keep too, and will do what it takes to keep her safe from knowing about the puzzling Academy that they swore allegiance to. Little by little, she finds that these boys are far from the normal that she was looking for. Is her loyalty going to change when she becomes forced to go back in the darkness? Or is she going to come to terms with the fact that she has given up one house for another one?

Every single character in the book draws you in and are intriguing. Fans of the novel are in love with this series, they even started it after loving the sound of the summary. The first chapter drew them in and they were not disappointed for a single moment of the novel. Some read quite a few of these books in just a few days, and could not wait for more.

“First Days” is the second novel in “The Ghost Bird” series and was released in the year 2013. Sang Sorenson was the invisible girl in her classes. Now that she goes to Ashley Waters High School, she hopes that the new friends that has made will be the change she has always wanted and will make fitting in a lot easier.

Academy students are not attending the school to take things easy. There is a lot of violence and overcrowded to boot. Fights start up and she will find out exactly why the boys left the private school they were going to and the life it came with for a public school.

At the start of this school year, she is a target, but at least she is not invisible anymore. Both the principal and vice principal want more than anything to take Sang out. Sang’s mother wants her to see that the best place to be is in the shadows. Nathan, North, Silas, Luke, Kota, Gabriel, and Victor will see how loyal Sang can be. It comes at a time when they really need it.

This novel has more action and adventure this time around, something that is a huge selling point. Fans of the novel were hooked right from the start of the story, once again. This was another top notch book that delivers on the promise from book one. There are more answers about the bizarre academy these kids are going to. After reading some of these books, some readers are going to track down more of Stone’s work, as they have become fans of hers.

“Friends Vs. Family” is the third novel in “The Ghost Bird” series and was released in the year 2013. Sang has to suffer through yet another one of her mom’s extreme punishments. This one just about kills her. The boys from the Academy make a vow that it will be the last one. They are going to make sure she is safe, even from her family.

Their plan is a complete invasion on her own life. Nathan, Gabriel, Victor, North, Luke, and Kota prove their loyalty to her and show her what that means. They want Sang in their family, as they believe it means more than sharing blood.

This time around, she learns more about the boys’ dysfunctional family lives and the guys learn more than they ever thought possible about Sang. The Academy served as the answer to the boys’ problems. It could just be an answer to Sang’s. She also has a taste of freedom and what it feels like to be really cared for.

C. L. Stone somehow manages to find a way to top her self with each of these books. Fans really cannot get enough of these books, even if they tried; they are hooked on the series and it does not let go for an instant. Fans of the novel liked the way that the reasons for the abuse Sang suffers is explained and also is brought to a whole newlevel. Some felt that they actually slowed themselves down during this book to enjoy all of the elements going on in this one.

“Forgiveness and Permission” is the fourth novel in “The Ghost Bird” series and was released in the year 2013. Sang’s mom is now in a hospital, and her father is gone to a new family. It leaves Sang and her sister on their own. Sang only hangs by a thread, and the only hope she has to make it rests with some guys she feels she hardly knows.

Very rarely is she alone, though, as the team from The Academy comes in and will protect and give care to Sang. The guys take things over and show her that she can depend on them for whatever she needs. Just because her parents are gone, that does not mean that things have gotten easier.

This new found freedom is going to have a bigger price than they ever could have thought possible. Principal Hendricks is now looking to use Sang and plans on exploiting some of the secrets the Academy has. Mr. McCoy has been working on some pretty evil plans of his own for her. The enemies are closing right in. Sang is going to have to learn to believe in these boys, and the boys are going to have to trust her more if they would like to survive each other and their own rivals.

I am, to be honest disappointed to find out that the ghost bird series is complete, because I feel a bit cheated. We never got Kota’s story, we never found who was after them, we also never found out if the Academy accepted them as a team and family together. There was so much in that story that was left unsaid. I was completely gripped by this series and the characters, so much so that I have read them at least 4 times. Really disappointing 😢
