However, they all make for beautiful couples when they finally meet the women who fulfill all their deepest desires. “Deep Down” the first novel of the Lockhart Brothers series opens to Ivy having to leave town and going into the unknown world due to an act of cruelty perpetrated on her. Three years later, she has gotten used to the small town of Lovely, where she works as a waitress at a diner owned by Margie and Gene, a couple that helped her settle in town. She has left the past behind and is determined to be the best mother she can be and provide for her son. But then Reed Lockhart comes back home and is looking to leave his past just like Ivy. He had been left at the altar by the love of his life and had sworn off love ever since. But ever since he had set his eyes on the beautiful woman who had served him at the diner, all he could think about was how to create an opportunity to be with her. There is something about her innocence, her love for her child, and her kindness that makes her crave her like he never had any other woman. Ivy is taken in by Reed but even as she is full of desire, she is apprehensive having been burned before. But Reed is passionate persistent which makes for a magical story of a chase and ultimately a happily ever after.
Brenda Rothert’s “In Deep” is a novel about Mason Lockhart. He is a very intelligent man that was in love until he was betrayed, leaving him with resentment, anger, and sadness which he has expressed in not so positive ways. On the other hand is April who has moved into town on the invitation of Ivy her best friend. She has found a job taking care of the Grieves home, where she is also a governess. While she is a simple girl, she is lovely and educated though she has very little experience with relationships and men. When she meets Ivy’s brother in law Mason, she thinks he is very handsome and in her nervousness, they get off on the wrong foot. Conversely, Mason does not know what to make of the beautiful woman though the more time he spends with her the more he likes her. They start off as friends but soon the sparks are flying as Mason is the alpha April has never experienced. Nonetheless, they both have ghosts from the past that they are dealing with that need healing if their love is to have a chance. Given that they are both looking to be loved just as they are, they may just make their relationship work.
Rothert’s third novel in the Lockhart series “Drawn Deeper” tells the story of Kyle Lockhart who is looking for someone to love him unconditionally after the disaster that was his first marriage. He has been divorced for about ten months and has not been much into relationships as he has been focused on taking care of his two sons. He had never been there for them before having kept crazy long hours as a surgeon. But now that he is divorced, he is all they have and they come before everything. But then Meredith comes into his life and changes everything, making Kyle believe that he could finally love again. But the problem is that Meredith does not have a good reputation in the town, particularly with the Lockharts. She had left a Lockhart at the altar and they were understandably bitter. She never thought she would ever meet someone so tender-hearted who made her feel special and loved his children as much as he did. Even just being his friend is so easy but soon their connection is too much and they are having a full-blown relationship. But will history and family come between them and happiness?
