Brenda Jackson is one of the award winning and noteworthy authors of America who has written a number of successful contemporary, multicultural romance novels in her writing career. She is particularly popular to be the first Afro-American novelist who has published a novel as a part of the line of the Silhouette Desire. Many of her novels have also reached the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists. In the year 2013, author Brenda reached a milestone in her writing career by publishing her 100th novel. She is in fact the first Afro-American author to achieve this accomplishment. Brenda was born in the year 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida, United States and was also brought up in the same place. She went on to marry her high school sweetheart named Gerald in the year 1972, right after graduating from her high school. Later, Brenda earned her degree in business administration from the Jacksonville University. Meanwhile, she also became the mother of two sons named Gerald Jr and Brandon. The latter went on to become a Political Officer and works for the US Foreign Service.
Throughout the early 1990s, Brenda used to work for a number of odd jobs and in order to get a relief from the stresses caused by her hectic job schedules, she started engaging herself in reading romance novels. Even though she used to enjoy reading those novels, she seemed rather dissatisfied because of the fact that those novels lacked ethnic and cultural diversity depicted in the characters. Therefore, author Brenda used to complain to her husband often and used to say that she could write a much better novel on her own. Seeing her confidence, Gerald enrolled her for a conference of romance writers and encouraged her to try and write a novel of her own. At the writers conference, Brenda a couple of then unpublished novelists named Rochelle Alers and Francis Ray, who inspired her to write. At that time, author Brenda showed a lot of determination in writing novels based on the multicultural romances, especially the ones featuring the Afro-American characters. She desired to describe her characters as conveying the belief that there is love everywhere. Eventually, author Brenda wrote her first novel titled Tonight and Forever, which was published in the year 1995.
The novel was followed by a few others as well, all of which depicted the fictional characters of the Madaris brothers. Their depiction allowed author Brenda to portray the Afro-American men who were respectful as well as appreciative of women. She says that many of the heroes of her novels are directly inspired by her husband as she considers him to be a very strong Afro-American male who is supportive and takes care of his family. In the year 2001, author Brenda released her first novel based on the mainstream women’s fiction. It was titled ‘A Family Reunion’. Just like all her previous novels, this novel too depicts a sexy spark in it as well as the typically confident and polished writing style of author Brenda Jackson. In the following year, she achieved the feat of becoming the first Afro-American novelist to publish a novel for the Silhouette line. In spite of publishing a total of 11 books in the first 10 years of her writing career, Brenda still considers writing just as a hobby. In fact, she works as a full time manager at the State Farm Insurance. Throughout her writing career, author Brenda has written for a number of publishing houses such as St. Martin’s Press, Harlequin/Silhouette, BET, Harlequin Kimani Romance, NAL, and Kensington. In the year 2010, she became a filmmaker and adapted one of her novels titled Truly Everlasting into a movie of the same name. The film was produced by her son’s production company called Five Alive Films.
One of the successful novel series written by author Brenda Jackson was titled ‘Forged of Steele’ series. It is comprised of a total of 10 books published between the years 2006 and 2012. One of the initial novels of the series was published under the titled ‘Night Heat’. It was released by the Harlequin Kimani publishing house in the year 2006. The plot of this novel revolves around the happenings in the romantic lives of the main characters named Sebastian Steele and Jocelyn Mason. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Sebastian Steele is described as the type of man which every woman often dreams about. He was blessed with a wickedly charming personality and was extremely handsome. On top that, he had enormous wealth to his name. All these factors tempted each and every woman in his vicinity to get close to him and become a part of luxurious life. Therefore, when he approached Jocelyn Mason to help her get her struggling company up and running, there was no reason for her not to accept his offer. Any normal woman would quickly grab the opportunity with both hands because of his high reputation. However, Jocelyn was aware that Sebastian Steele was corporate shark and that the bigger companies always have the tendency of taking over the smaller companies in the corporate world. Her guess about Sebastian was absolutely right as he had the intention of taking over the Mason Builders, whether she liked it or not. But, when the two came together to work on the legal procedures, a few sparks began to fly between the two and they shared an unforgettable and sizzling night of passion. In the end, it was not whether Sebastian was the boss or Jocelyn Mason was bossing him.
One of the other initial novel of the Forged of Steele series was published under the title ‘Irresistible Forces’ and was released by the Harlequin Kimani Press publishing house in the year 2008. The plot of this novel revolves around the lives of the primary characters named Dominic Saxon and Taylor Steele. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Taylor Steele and Dominic Saxon are depicted as having a week full of mind-blowing sex on the Caribbean Island. He was definitely tempted by the business proposal given by Taylor Steele, from among all the proposals that he had heard. The only thing that she wanted from Dominic in return was to become the father of her child. She did not expect any other commitment or string from him. It appeared to be a pretty satisfying arrangement for him as he did not have the intention of marrying again. It was clear on Taylor’s part that she wanted a baby and not a relationship. The intelligent and sexy Dominic Saxon seemed to be a man having the perfect genes. And their sensual vacation ended as they had planned. But after it gets over, it will be interesting to see whether any of them will be able to say goodbye.
