Even though Tola is very small, she is still able to help out and do things that you wouldn’t normally think that she could do. When she goes to the market with Grandmummy, she is able to carry a lot of what they brought home herself. Tola is able to tote along a basket that is filled up with vegetables, fish, chili peppers and yams.

She’s also helpful in other ways. When Too Small Tola finds that the taps in the flat aren’t giving them water, she is the one who is able to bring them all water from the well so that they have something to drink.

She is also the one who saves everything when the tailor Mr. Abdul needs his things delivered quickly. Even though she may be small, it is clear that Tola is not going to let her size get in the way of her doing things and will not let it dictate her abilities.
