Ann Aguirre started her writing career with the novel “Grimspace” in 2008 which was a science-fiction adventure novel that introduced the character of Sirantha Jax. It was deemed as a “dazzling debut novel” by RT Book Reviews and the book was sold across States and other countries too. This was followed by “Wanderlust” in the same year which was a sequence to the previous novel “Grimspace”. It was rated 4.5 stars by RT Book Reviews making it the second-highest rated novel. The Sirantha Jax series went on till 2012 after four more sequences of the series namely Doubleblind (2009), Killbox (2010), Aftermath (2011) and Endgame (2012) were released.
Infamous Corine Solomon Series
In 2009, Ann Aguirre started the Corine Solomon Series under which, five novels were published under the names Blue Diablo (2009), Hell Fire (2010), Shady Lady (2011), Devil’s Punch (2012) and Agave Kiss (March 2013). Blue Diablo being the first in the series was set in the Southwest US and was a supernatural story. It got 4 stars from RT Book Reviews. Hell Fire was the sequel to Blue Diablo and it was a supernatural conspiracy thriller. The novel was deeply appreciated and praised by Publishers Weekly especially for its atmosphere setting. The characterization of the novel was commendable since each and every character portrayed their role in the best possible manner. Adding to that, Publishers Weekly rated the novel 4 stars for high page-turning quality.
Enclave (2010)
Enclave was written by Ann Aguirre in 2010 especially for teens. Ann demarcated it as a post-apocalyptic science-fiction novel that had a very alluring storyline for teens. Critics termed it as “standard post-apocalyptic dystopia” and despite of a few minor quirks, the novel was widely recommended to avid teen as well as adult readers. Publisher Weekly gave a good response on the novel calling it skilled but at the same time, violent. They went on to add that those who were fans of The Hunger Games will definitely strike a chord with the novel. Enclave was deeply praised by RT Book Reviews as well and the novel was shortlisted among the finalists of 2012 RITA Awards for Young Adult Romance. Enclave won the award for Enclave and went on to deliver more of her finest works. Enclave was the first of the Razorland Trilogy with Outpost (September 2012) and Horde (September 2013).
Skin Series (2009)
In this series, the character Ava Grey was born and all the four books of this series have been widely revered by critics all around the world. The first instalment of the series, “Skin Game” came in the year 2009 which received commendable reviews. This was followed by Skin Tight (2010), Skin Heat (2011) and finally Skin Dive (Late 2011). The Skin series of novels by Ann Aguirre were reviewed by many prominent critics who appreciated and praised the style of writing as well as the characterization. It is true that an author has to write in such a way so as to allow the readers to connect with each and every part of the plot and imagine themselves as the leading character of the story. Her first Short Fiction story came out in the year 2009 under the name “Circle Unbroken” which was followed by Princes of Dominion (2010), Skin & Bone (2011), Wild Magic (2011) and Endurance (2012).
