Anita Waller
Anita Waller was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and has lived her entire life there. She has three adult kids and numerous grandkids.
Anita had “Beautiful”, her first novel, all set to be published back in 1985, and were at the contract stage right as the publishing house went into liquidation. It wound up coming out 30 years later.
Just the fact that Anita’s able to say that she is a writer at all is her favorite part about being a writer.
She deals with writer’s block just by sitting at her computer until she becomes unblocked.
Anita gets inspired to write by listening to people. Eavesdropping on them. Many people say things and if you take what they have uttered out loud out of context and put your own spin on it a story will usually surface.
“Murder Undeniable” is the first novel in the “Kat and Mouse” series and was released in 2018. Katerina Rowe, who’s a Deacon at the church in the sleepy village of Eyam, has got a fulfilled life. She’s happily married to a man named Leon and her work’s rewarding.
However that all changes when she finds a man’s body and a badly beaten woman, named Beth, in an alleyway just behind her husband’s pharmacy. Drawn to the young woman that she has saved, she finds herself being embroiled in a baffling mystery.
Beth’s house gets set on fire, and Kat offers this young woman sanctuary in her home and quickly the pair start investigation the murder, with a bit of help from Doris, Beth’s feisty grandma. However neither the police, nor the criminals, nor Leon want Beth and Kat looking into their affairs and the sleuths soon find themselves out of their depth.
Will Beth and Kat be able to solve the mystery and walk away unscathed?
Kat definitely does a great job of putting people at ease and you can really tell just how much she cares about other people. Her and Leon’s relationship is great as is so much in her life. This is a fabulous start to a new series, and a great introduction to both Beth and Kat.
“Murder Unexpected” is the second novel in the “Kat and Mouse” series and was released in 2019. Deacon Katerina lead a quiet life until she found out about her husband’s criminal activities. Now Leon’s on the run, and Kat’s started her own private investigation business with Beth, her good friend that goes by Mouse. It is enough for any Deacon to handle, let alone one that’s heavily pregnant.
A widow asks for Kat and Mouse for some help, this sleuthing duo find themselves searching for the birth mom of the widow’s husband. However once it becomes clear that this widow is not telling the whole entire truth, Kat and Mouse get pulled into this deadly chase where nothing is like it appears. At the same time, Leon’s returned to Eyam and is out for revenge. Can she solve this case and escape from her dangerous husband?
“Blood Red” is the first novel in the “Connection” series and was released in 2021. The revamped Connection Investigation Agency team takes a decades old crime on.
The Connection Investigation Agency has seen a few major changes. Tessa, Beth, and Luke are new partners, and have taken over and the members of the old team have moved on to new pastures.
On the first day of reopening, this body is found in the outhouse at the back of the office and their first case starts with some bones which have lain undiscovered for 25 years.
Can Luke take his first solo case on and solve it? Is Tessa going to prove to be as good an investigator as she was a DI? Is she going to solve the mystery of the threatening notes sent to two women, who wound up becoming murder victims? While the agency continues digging deeper into the past and a connection between these 2 cases is revealed, is it going to hinder or help?
“Code Blue” is the second novel in the “Connection” series and was released in 2021. Five years after this couple’s life was shattered, the Connection Agency attempts to bring them some peace.
Five years back, Caroline and John Coates were happily expecting the birth of twin girls, up until this intruder ended their dreams and hopes. Now, John’s come to the Connection Agency, asking for help to track down the man that caused them all this grief.
Back then, Tessa’s involvement got cut short once the cold case department took over fast. This is the opportunity for her and Luke to follow all the facts and lay this case to rest finally. With the rest of the Connection team busy on other jobs, Luke and Tessa, along with DI Eileen Haughton (who’s an old colleague of Tessa’s from her police days) follow these clues to a conclusion they could never have imagined. And it reveals a truth that could either bring the Coateses the peace that they’ve been craving or take them further into the depths of despair.
“Fatal Secrets” is the first novel in the “Forrester Detective Agency Mystery” series and was released in 2023. There’s nothing more important than family.
Matt Forrester has followed in his dad’s footsteps, climbing up the police ranks in order to become a DI. However when he gets an urgent call for help, he must rethink his whole career. His father’s been murdered, and Matt’s not going to let this case go. Doesn’t help any that his current boss has been sleeping with his ex-wife.
Hermia Forrester did not follow her brother into the police force, instead she works in research at the university. However she won’t let that stop her from helping out her brother figure out what happened to their dad. However the siblings quickly find themselves being surrounded by much more danger than they’d ever imagined. Can the each possibly survive this case or is there going to be more of their family in the morgue soon?
