Amanda Panhorst
Amanda Panhorst writes clean Regency romance. She grew up along the Wasatch Front and read a hearty diet of Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer novels. She’s a firm believer that the Three Rs: wRiter, Reading, and Riding make for a great recipe for your own happiness.
Other ingredients include her fantastic husband, three sons, and their pets Flint, Darcy, and Ginny.
“The Wife of Walraven” is the first novel in the “Langham Line” series and was released in 2020. If she truly wanted to save him, then there was no room for hesitation.
Lord Walraven, dreading and resigned to accepting an arranged marriage just as ill-suited as it is unwanted, accepts the invitation of a ramshackle acquaintance to go to this house party in the far north of England as a final hurrah before he accepts his fate. However in this helter-skelter party, there are schemes hoping to ensnare him and his wealth already in progress.
Anna Welbourne has been her brother’s drudge for years by this point. She’s sent by herself in order to prepare their ancestral home and its unsuspecting servants for his rather grand party, she’s furious enough to try anything in order to rid herself of her brother’s cruel guardianship.
However among his guests is this man that she owes a debt, and she has to pay him back. So, after this raucous game of cards, she sees the handsome Lord Walraven being swept on to Gretna Green by this conniving woman, she not only sees her chance to escape from her brother, but to also pay her debt.
This is such a marvelous story and it was excellent to read about Anna saving a plow horse named Jim. Another great part was when Anna learns of a plot by the cook to sabotage this major dinner to make her look bad.
“Letty’s Last Love” is the second novel in the “Langham Line” series and was released in 2021. She is accepting somebody else, while he is in desperate need of a wife. Is a summer going to be plenty to change her mind?
James Hammond is in a bind at the moment. In order to fulfill the dictates of his late cousin’s will, he has to provide a London season for Belinda, his new ward. Which is an easy thing to do with his fashionable and London-loving wife, if only she had not died just before his cousin did. Now that he has his new ward to take care of, this rascal of a son to keep in check, and a mountain of debt that his wife left him, he must find himself a bride and quick. However after his third rejection in just as many months, he’s starting to lose hope.
Letty Langham doesn’t ever fall in love. She experienced the emotion just once before and it went about as horribly as a case of unrequited love can possibly go. She’s now vowed to never allow these emotions any rein ever again. However not wanting to be alone forever, she sees the wisdom in accepting the proposal of the impeccable Lord Bransbury come the fall, after spending the summer with her cousins close to bath. However after one act of charity goes terribly askew, Letty finds she’s in the frequent company of James Hammond, whose own easy going manners and handsome face are making her rethink keeping her feelings bound.
“The Earl from Eastbend” is the first novel in the “Reluctant Tiles” series and was released in 2021. She wants to leave, and he wants her gone. Problem is that she cannot recall where she came from in the first place.
Hugh Longville always keeps his distance from everybody. Particularly anybody that might recognize him and remember what he did a decade ago. So as he comes to the rescue of this strange woman that is deep in the forest that has been his home for so long, he wants her to return where she came from as quickly as possible. However there is a hitch.
Waking up after getting a bump on the head sure is unpleasant, however it’s particularly terrifying once you wake up in an odd place without any recollection of how you got there. Thus, Diana Stilwell finds herself at Eastbend Lodge, which is deep in New Forest with just a foreboding man and his servants for company.
Stranded by the rains, Hugh and Diana are stuck finding a middle ground for their tumultuous natures. However the more that she sees of this formidable and strange man, the more that she sees beyond his facade of surliness and into the hurting and kind heart that he carries. Can she possibly convince him that love and forgiveness are actually possible?
“Evangeline and the Strait Laced Rake” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2023. Evangeline’s come to Fernsby Hall in order to host this house party, but not fall in love with one of her old friends.
Evangeline Payne, extremely wealthy, gorgeous, and vivacious, a widowed countess might just take each and every chance she can to entertain herself that she wishes. Her favorite pastime is to refuse every marriage offer that comes her way. Particularly from Basil Morley, her favorite scoundrel, whose antics as her would-be suitor have continuously kept her in stitches for years now. His promises of someday wooing and winning her hand in marriage are total nonsense. It’s all just fun and games between them, each knowing that his main objective is her huge fortune.
She knows that Basil, who has been ruined by foreign travels, just cares about amusing himself through outrageous wagers, absurd pranks, and the typical pursuits of a rake. In order to allow him into one’s heart would be beyond foolish. However while loneliness continues creeping into her life, his constant friendship is viewed in a new light, and while at a house party in Hertfordshire, clues to the true man that hides behind Basil’s roguish facade are much too curious not to investigate further, which forces her to realize that he’s not the cordial rake that he makes himself appear to be.
