Alexene Farol Follmuth writes young adult romance fiction, even though she also writes under the name Olivie Blake.

Writing as Olivie, she writes Science and fantasy fiction and as Alexene she writes young adult romantic comedies such as “My Mechanical Romance,” which she published in 2022.
Generally speaking, most of her novels are usually about the fascinating intricacies of love and life and this sometimes includes some magic.

Even when she was still very young, Alexene always gravitated toward writing as her creative outlet, maybe because she always was a very bookish child. The first book she ever read was the child-friendly version of “The Odyssey,” even though she would later on read the full version as an adult.

Nonetheless, there was no single novel that made her want to become an author but if there was anything that was so influential, it has to be Dodie Smith’s “I Capture the Castle,” which she read when she was in her teenage years.

Her first book was penned as part of the summer contest that she participated in when she was in middle school. She had just dropped out of law school when she began writing her first novel as a form of catharsis, even though she never thought of becoming a professional novelist.

Since she was the child of immigrant parents who expected her to become a doctor or lawyer, there was no way she would have ever thought of writing as a career.

Like most writers, she would finally realize that there was nothing she loved doing that ever felt so right than writing. She came to that realization when she was in her twenties and this fact never left her alone until she began writing.

Before Alexene Farol Follmuth began writing fiction novels, she wrote at least four million words in the fan fiction world. It was from fan fiction that she got the ten thousand hours of training that she needed on how to craft relationship arcs, narrative voice, and characters coupled with a lot of peer review.

Alexene got into fiction for two reasons and these have been the driving force for her entire career. Her husband who is a teacher of physics asked her to pen something that would bring more women into science and since she wanted to please him, she was never going to down such an opportunity.

The other reason she got into writing fiction was that she had always loved writing for more experienced readers but felt that there was an opportunity to write the stories that she would have loved to read when she was a teenager.
It also felt good to pen reassuring stories that would bring some order to the unpredictable chaos of youth.

As for her name, Alexene said that she used a name generator to get her name. She would self-publish at least half a dozen works before she achieved her dream of becoming published under a traditional publisher.

Writing as Olivie Blake, she is best known for the fantasy trilogy “The Atlas Series,” five of whom are promised initiation to the Alexandrian Society. For the most part, she self-published her novels through Amazon Kindle when she was writing as Blake.
Following revisions, “The Atlas Six” was republished by Tor Books in 2022 when they went viral on various social media platforms. Moreover, Alexene has an agreement with Amazon Studios to make some of her novels into a television series.
“My Mechanical Romance” which is her first young adult novel was published by Holiday House in 2022 under Alexene Farol Follmuth her real name.

Alexene Farol Follmuth’s “My Mechanical Romance” is a work that follows the life and times of Bel. She would rather die than think two days in the future as she does not engage in extracurriculars and has not even registered in college apps.
But she unexpectedly realizes that she is very talented in engineering and soon enough is forced into the robotics club. Even worse, hardly anyone at the club thinks anything good of her including Neelam, the only girl in the club.

Thankfully, the club captain Mateo Luna thinks she is a potential asset. However, it is not long before they are butting heads since Teo cares too much about Nationals while Bel does not seem to care.

But as the nights spent doing prep work after school grow longer with each passing day, they start to realize that they make their team and each other better. Maybe girls actually do belong in STEM.

It is an interesting novel that explores the many obstacles girls especially those of color have to confront in STEM and the vulnerability of first love.

Told with unfailing honesty and wit, with lines that you cannot help but enjoy and beautiful opposites-attract romance as the premise, what is not to love?

“Twelfth Night” by Alexene Farol Follmuth tells the story of Viola Reyes who could not have been more annoyed.

She had worked so hard to come up with a tabletop campaign only to have it shot down. Moreover, her best friend is suggesting she try to be more likable while Jack Orsino the school running back is being so lackadaisical. This is making her job as vice president a lot harder.
Viola’s favorite escape is going deep into her favorite MMORPG “Twelfth Knight.” But even in the place she goes to find an escape, people are never so kind to girls like her, even though she could not have been so competent and has the swagger to prove it.

Viola comes up with a masculine alter ego and plays the game as Cesario, a knight so that she can partake in her favorite activity. But then a football injury results in Jack Orsino joining her MMORPG world and Viola is alarmed to find that she is matched with him.

Playing very long nights, of their favorite game results in discussions about love and life and they come to realize that they are more than just weapon-wielding characters in a game. However, she has been concealing her true identity from him, and offline, he might just be falling for her.
