This is the genesis book that was written this smart American author. The initial publication of the novel was done on 1st August 1983 and has about 199 pages. At first, Kirk and Spock, who are good friends travel back in time through a mysterious portal conscious known as the Guardian. They need to get back to the Earth in the twentieth century to save the future of the catastrophic interventions caused by Dr. McCoy, who is the victim of an accident with a drug that makes him paranoid and violent, had returned before the past and eventually modify it disastrously.
Kirk, Spock and McCoy go to planet Sarpeidon, about to become a supernova, to rescue its population. However, they are surprised by the fact that the planet is very empty. The trio discovers that the inhabitants had been transported to the past using a machine called atavachron. An accident happens, carrying Spock and McCoy in 5000 years in the past, during an ice age. On the other hand, Spock begins to act strangely, kicking the behavior of primitive Vulcans. He even knows Zarabeth, an exiled person on the planet, and falls for her desperately. While all this happens, Kirk will stop a medieval period Sarpeidon. History of Time Portal develops when Spock finds from archaeological evidence that his romance with Zarabeth resulted in a child. Determined to save his son, Spock seeks authorization to use the Guardian and back in time to Sarpeidon.
Upon returning to the ice age that planet, in Kirk and McCoy’s company, Spock realizes that having a child will not be something that easy. Although it is a well-mannered boy, Zar will have to get used to the new technologies for 5000 years in the future, and to adapt to hard Vulcans customs. What was the reaction of Spock to his son? Did he really love him like a father? These are some question that you can only find answers to when you read this smart book. The character in the book include the likes of Spock as in the first book and his son Zar.In this novel, we find out that the Guardian is causing serious premature deaths of stars in the entire galaxy. This is because it has malfunctioned and it is now emitting accelerated time waves. Due to this, Spock remembers that Zar, his only son was the only one who was able to telepathically communicate with the Guardian. In order for Kirk, to get transport the strong telepath to the Guardian, the whole enterprise is now under a temporary command. For a given time, the telepath was able to control and partially restore the time-travel functions of the Guardian, but later finds it very hectic to control anymore. This eventually leads to its collapse in the state of Comatose. To solve the situation, Kirk, Dr. McCoy and Spock are all forced to look for Zar. This is the reason they have to use the Guardian to travel beyond the planet Sarpeidon with hopes that the telepathy of Zar when combined with that of Vulcan shield training might be able to fully restore the Guardian to its original condition. On their arrival, they found Zar, who is now taking care of a small and advanced technologically settlement. This small settlement is about to get into a battle with the alliance of little technology, but one with the most number of enemy clans. This is just but a small summary of this excellent novel that you will really find entertaining.
