Virginia Smith is comparatively the best Christian, fiction, and contemporary author. She has authored thirty-one novels, several children books, articles and other numerous short stories. Before venturing into full-time writing, Virginia Smith was a corporate director. Since getting to the field, she has compiled several novels which have ended up as finalists in many international awards. Besides writing, Virginia Smith is also an avid reader and an active inspirational speaker frequently presenting at schools and conferences. Virginia Smith is married and enjoys exploring nature with her husband, Ted any time she is not actively engaged. Stuck in the Middle

Stuck in the middle is the first installment of the series sister to sister by Virginia Smith. It introduces a family full of jealous and tough struggles. Despite being heartwarming and deep, the story is certainly fun and light to read. In the book, the story revolves around Joan Sanderson, a boring lady in her midlife crisis. She has two sisters, one elder and a younger one, both seemingly motivated by their lives. Whereas her life is stuck helping her mother and a rather aging grandmother, her older sister, Allie is married and starting her family. Tori, her younger sister, is building her career which seems successful. Compared to her sister’s lives, hers cannot be a recipe for excitement. Besides this, Joan gets dump by her longtime boyfriend.

A hunky doctor moves next door, and Joan gets ideas over him. However, she was not the only one with such naughty ideas. Her younger sister, Tori wants him too. The fact that almost everything in her life has been falling apart disappoints her, and she is certain she can’t win him. This makes her feel more alienated not only from her family but also from God. Despite being an ardent believer who attends church regularly, she thinks that God is far from her and cannot listen to her. However, she believes in God and has faith.

She gets disappointed by the situations in her life. Like other Christians, Joan gets encouragement every time she listens to the missionaries preach. With this, she realizes that she cannot get things right in her life until she makes up with God. She, therefore, sets out to examine her past trying to evaluate and identify where she went wrong. This was when her life took a turn. Reading through the book, you will find several heart-warming and soul searching escapades of encouragement. All in all, Joan succeeds with her missions in life including getting the hunky doctor. Beware of the emotional connection you might develop with Joan while reading it.

Age Before Beauty

This is the second installment of Virginia Smith series, sister to sister. From the first installment, a healthy sibling rivalry can be clearly pictured. It is a fine and quick read that will be your source of enjoyment on a quiet winter evening. The story line of the book clearly depicts situations and issues that most new parents experience. Age before beauty focuses on Allie, the eldest of the Sanderson sisters. Just like the first installment, Virginia Smith brings in the various factors coming to play in Ellie’s life. Joan and Ken, the doctor develop their relationship pretty well.

Eric and Ellie have been married for five years now. Their marriage is faring on well and have a daughter. However, as she gets off her maternity leave, she is not sure what kind of job to engage in, considering the family needs and bills she has to take care of. She is also in a dilemma on who will remain with her daughter while at work. She, however, finds a job at a company employed as a salesperson. She jumps into the opportunity determined to work effortlessly. This is where the challenge sets in. Her job is pretty chaotic. Coupled up with the idea that her daughter, whom she loves a lot, is left with strangers, her life becomes dramatic. As if this is not enough, her mother in law leaves her husband and moves in. To add on this, Eric has changed and is spending much time with an attractive co-worker outside work.

Allie obtains a credit card for business purposes only to help her get through the constraints in her life. Despite these challenges, Allie refuses to hear what her sister tried to introduce to her about salvation. She thinks she can handle all by herself. Having said this, will she rely on God, like Joan for help or manage it on her own?

Third Time’s a Charm

This is the third sequential book in the series Sister to sister by Virginia Smith. The book throws its focus on Tori Sanderson, the youngest of the three sisters. With her terrifying job, she loves shopping for designer clothes and shoes. Joan and Allie fix her up with Ryan, a brilliant farm boy from her town. With time, Tori gets to fall for him, much of a delight to her two sisters. However, Ryan’s sister in law is not a fan of this. She shows up on their first date with her two sons. On the other side, the Sanderson sisters keep track of Ryan and Tori’s relationship by asking details of each date.

In her job, Tori’s boss expects her to be available 24/7. She is also up for a promotion alongside her co-worker, Mitch, who also has his eyes on her. This builds too much pressure on her. With the promotion, Tori gets too committed interfering with their relationship. Like other Virginia Smith’s stories, the book brings contrasting life events with happy moments amidst challenges. The story gets interesting when Tori gets late for Joan’s wedding after taking some time to buy some pair of designer shoes she saw while shopping for her gift to Joan during the wedding. With this and much more fascinating events in the story, the book is certainly a good read.

Having said this, Virginia Smith creates a perfect environment full of romance and faith equally balanced. Where romance and life events become daunting, faith takes over.
