Myke Cole is an American penman whose literary works have been greatly inspired by his military service, working for intelligence agencies, and stint as a law enforcer. Cole was born in New York, the US, and presently resides in Brooklyn upon New York.
Myke Cole, whose writing career is illustrious, juggles different jobs. For instance, he has been a federal law enforcer with the New York Police Department. Secondly, he served in the military wherein he was dispatched to Iraqi battlefields thrice; currently, he holds the rank of a lieutenant in the US Coast Guard and resumed active service during disasters such as the 2010 Deepwater Horizon marine oil spill and past natural disasters such as hurricanes. Third, he has been a security contractor. Lastly, he is among the cast on a TV program running on CBS.
His career might sound illustrious, but it has been nerve-wracking for Myke Cole. To wind down, he reads fantasy and comic books, and plays late-night role-playing games. Another pastime is writing furiously, especially when he is seething with anger.
Section on Books
Myke Cole has penned several series of books. He debuted in 2012. His debut book has since been expounded to form the Shadow Ops series. This is the first entry in the aforementioned series chronologically. There are about fifteen editions of the first book in the said series; however, the first edition of that debut was originally published in January 2012, titled Control Point, and this series is shelved as science fiction, fantasy (urban fantasy sub-genre), and military fiction genres.
Another early book which Myke Cole published is Fortress Frontier. This is the second book in the Shadow Ops series. This book has about ten editions and the first one was originally published in 2013. There are different protagonists in both Control Point and Fortress Frontier. In the former book, the featured protagonist is military officer Osar Britton. In the latter book, the featured protagonist is military officer Alan Bookbinder. Both are in the US military.
On the one hand, Oscar Britton, who is a lieutenant, is attached to a military branch called Supernatural Operations Corps. He is a pilot, specializing with Kiowa helicopters. The fallible character is also irksome. Physical appearance: he is balding, an American with African ancestry, and has lots of muscles.
On the other hand, military officer Alan Bookbinder holds the rank of a colonel and is based in Pentagon; even then his military career is limited to office administration and is yet to see combat. However, unlike officer Britton, Bookbinder is easy to like and is also humorous. On the flip side, Bookbinder is suggestible and, in his fool’s paradise, imagines that he possesses the qualities of a good leader. Bookbinder is a family man and dutiful military man. Just like Britton, Bookbinder is attached to the military’s supernatural branch, wherein he commands the so-called Forward Operating Base Frontier.
The first book in the series, Control Point, revolves around a scenario wherein American citizens become wizards overnight. Anxious about their skills and unable to control them, they start causing natural disasters, fire incidents and, worse still, resurrecting people. Protagonist Oscar Britton is mandated to use the wherewithal of Supernatural Operations Corps to bring back sanity in a world that is increasingly plunging into turmoil.
The situation is complicated when, out of the blue, he attains a forbidden form of magical influence. And thus he ceases from being an agent fronting for the government and becomes its enemy and target instead. The very branch he had been leading resolves to search for and assassinate him. Britton is not just waiting to be killed, he stands up for himself.
The second book in the series, Fortress Frontier, expounds on the previous book, albeit featuring Alan Bookbinder as a main character. Bookbinder does not have hands-on experience in combat situations. But then the Great Reawakening comes, wherein people are engulfed in magical powers, including Bookbinder. The unprecedented development prompts Bookbinder to plunge into the front-lines head on. By and by, the sector that he is operating, Forward Operating Base Frontier, has been encircled by monstrous creatures and is about to be overrun. Desperate to save himself and his subordinates, he starts brainstorming how to escape the predicament, regardless of the fact that he might end up burying the hatchet with the person behind the widespread magical phenomena.

There is a widespread attack by inhuman forces and Thorsson sees it as an opportunity to prove his mettle. But he has to overcome a rebellious Oscar Britton and a dangerous evil woman.
