Born in America, Robin Burcell is a famous novelist who writes in the genre of mystery & thriller, crime fiction novels. Her work mainly includes a lot of suspense and she gets all of these ideas from her previous job. Author Robin Burcell was working in law enforcement for nearly thirty years as a police officer, criminal investigator and hostage negotiator. She is also an FBI Academy-trained forensic artist. During her time in her department Robin was the first female officer. “Policeman” was written on her badge and a storeroom was converted into a locker room for her use. During her childhood she had a dream of becoming an ice skater in the Olympics. Unfortunately, when she started skating seriously, it was too late as she was in her early twenties. But, deep inside her heart she knew that she always wanted to become a writer. Even though she couldn’t become an ice skater, the physical fitness she got from it helped her to easily pass the test to enter into the police academy.
As a commentator, author Burcell has appeared on several television episodes based on true-crime. For Bigfoot Files, the Icon Film television series, she performed as a forensic sketch artist. Based on the witness’s description she drew the sketch of Baby Big Foot. As Bigfoot: The New Evidence, the show appeared on BBC and on the National Geographic Channel in the United States. The series written on the life of Kate Gillespie, a homicide inspector in San Francisco Police by American author Burcell has been acclaimed by many. The series was nominated for the Anthony Award, of which two of the books won. Two books were nominated for Barry’s of which one of the book won the award and also one of the book was nominated for a Macavity Award. Face of a Killer is the first book in the second series written by the author and Sydney Fitzpatrick is starring in the series as an FBI agent. Library Journal gave a starred review to the first book in this series. Library Journal named the fifth book in the same series as among the best thrillers of 2014. The name of the book is The Kill Order. She is currently co-writing the Fargo series along with Clive Cussler, the international best-selling author. They have written another together titled Pirate. It was released in September of 2016. The series of the same name is about to come and they are working together for this series.
The American author Robin Burcell has two series along with some other standalone novels and short stories. One of the series is ‘Kate Gillespie’ series and the first book in this series is titled ‘Every Move She Makes’. This book was published by HarperTorch on 8th December of the year 1999. The main character in the book is Kate Gillespie, who is a Homicide Inspector. The story is about the city of San Francisco in which gruesome murders are happening and this has caused terror in the citizens of the city. The pressure on the police force is increasing as the people want answers to whatever is happening in the city. Tracking down the murderer is very important before another young woman’s body is found abandoned with throat cut. The task of finding and tracking down the killer is given to the homicide inspector Kate Gillespie and Sam Scolari, her old partner. The career of Kate can be lifted by this case, if she catches the real killer quickly. But her search comes to a sudden halt when the next victim’s body is found. She is none other than the ex-wife of Kate’s partner Sam Scolari. All the evidence found at the crime scene points Sam as the murderer. From the fear of being taken under arrest by the police, Sam goes underground. Now Kate is left alone to prove Sam is innocence, or guilty. Before the cops find Sam, Kate has to find the real killer. Apart from this Mike “Torrid” Torrance is also a problem for her. He is the sexiest IA officer ever to carry a badge and he is watching Kate’s every move. This assignment can bring them very much closer and as there is no partner whom she can trust, she is having a great solving the puzzle. Can Kate find the truth with a cop watching her every move and a killer walking freely in the city? Homicide Inspector Kate Gillespie has to find the truth before it’s too late. The attraction between Kate and Mike is very interestingly written in this book and it also shows the struggle to be like a real character. Very beautifully written by the American author Robin Burcell, this book is a must read one.
The second book written by author Burcell in the Kate Gillespie series is titled ‘Fatal Truth’ and was published by the Avon on 30th July of the year 2002. Kate Gillespie is a homicide inspector working with the San Francisco Police Department. She has worked very hard to get where she is now and she has earned everything. She had a stable life for a while, but a certain thing happened that changed her life. She received a frantic phone call from an unknown person who threatens to destroy her life. The snitch says that he will take everything she has worked hard to earn till now. As a homicide officer, she was always in bright lights, but due to this recent incident, she has entered into the dark world. As she arrives to meet her frightened informant, she finds out that he has been shot dead by another cop. Now the next target is Kate and she is trying to find out the dirty corruption and the deals that has been running through her department and some of them reaches back to her family history. Her family has a very troubled history and she is about to uncover riddles, truths and dark secrets that will destroy the very foundation of her beliefs. She is now facing a silent wall and she is about to fall into a trap set up by the ruthless killer who has been hiding in plain sight for a long time. She is also in trouble ever since his brother died of a drug overdose two years ago.
