Casey Daniels is a pen name used by one of the popular American authors of the romance genre named Constance Laux. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, The United States and uses many other pen names for writing her novels, including Connie Deka, Kylie Logan, Miranda Bliss, Connie Lane, and Zoe Daniels. Author Casey had once attacked a unknown hiker in the northern region of the Yukon and since then, she is called as Connie the bear. Before going to become a full time author and writing her famous romance novels, author Casey completed her graduation from the Queen’s College, located in Oxford, England, United Kingdom. She obtained her degree in the English Literature. Casey had a childhood lover, who she married after a few years of growing up and now lives along with him and a couple of children in the Cleveland suburbs. Author CAsey’s family also includes a big Airdale called as Hoover. She says it was during the summer season of the year 1990 when she attempted to write her first novel. It was later published as ‘The Fortune Teller’. In no time, the book became a sensation over the nation. With its success, author Casey began getting recognized as a talented writer.
When asked about why she makes use of the various pen names for writing her novels, author Casey says that she wants her real name to be kept as a secret from her vast fan base. This way, she is able to prevent herself from the pressure of their expectation and is able to produce excellent romance novels one after the other. Other than writing romance novels, author Casey is also involved in delivering classes about newswriting to the students of the Kent State University. Very often, she visits the university and gets interviewed by them. At one point in her writing career, author Casey got so much addicted in writing romance novels that she thought of doing a part time work as a tour guide, so as to keep herself away from the fatigue of the constant writing habit. Casey has always said that she learned the art of writing love mysteries at a very young age because of her father, who was a Police Detective at the Cleveland Police Department. He used to enjoy reading the Sherlock Holmes series and used to spend most of his day in searching the lost cars in the city. Quite often, Casey used to join him at the back of his seat and take rounds of the entire city. As an enthusiastic and young girl, Casey used to read each and every book that she could and enjoyed the ones written by Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie very much. Author Casey loves to spend her free time in doing gardening, knitting, and doing the research works of her next novels.
One of the successful novel series written by author Casey Daniels is titled as ‘Pepper Martin’. This paranormal series consists of a total of 9 books published between the years 2006 and 2012. The first novel of the series was published under the title ‘Don of the Dead’. It was released by the Avon publishing house in the year 2006. The plot of this novel is set in Ohio, The United States, and revolves around the happenings in the life of the central character named Pepper Martin. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Pepper is introduced as a beautiful, sexy, and smart lady. She never felt the need of working even for a single day in her life because of having a huge family fortune to her name. But, when her surgeon father got convicted in a fraud case, Pepper Martin’s fiancee began taking drugs and within no time, the whole family fortune became dry.
Due to this, Pepper becomes a desperate and inexperienced girl from a former rich one and is forced to get the first and only job that she could. She begins to work as a tour guide in one of the cemeteries in the city. Soon, she faces a grave situation because of which her life takes an even worse turn. Pepper collides with a headstone and gains the ability of communicating with the deceased, which she did not want. In the events that follow in her life, Pepper Martin gets chased by the ghost of a Mafia don, who demands her that she help him hunt down his murderers. The ghost threatens to keep haunting her until she agrees to fulfill his wish.
The second novel of the successful Pepper Martin series written by author Casey Daniels was published under the title ‘The Chick and the Dead’. It was released by the Avon Books publishing house in the year 2007. The plot of this novel is once again set in Cleveland, Ohio, The United States, and continues to revolve around the happenings in the life of the main character named Pepper Martin. In the opening sequence of the plot of this novel, it is shown that the former rich lady turned tour guide of a Cleveland cemetery has obtained the ability of seeing the dead people after banging her head on one of the headstones of the cemetery. Even worse is the fact that she is able to hear them as well. This time, it is the ghost of a woman named Didi Bowman, who seems to be buzzing in Pepper’s ears, telling her that her popular author sister named Merilee has done something very bad with her.
The main problem that Pepper Martin faces with this case is that she succeeds in proving the misdeeds of Merilee, then the hearts of a number of fans that follow her will be broken. And if Pepper does not do it, then Didi Bowman’s ghost will not leave her. In the meantime, Pepper seems to be in need of peace in her life and some rent money. Therefore, she takes up the job as the secretary of Merilee. By doing so, she is able to search about the her family secrets. After searching for a while, Pepper comes to know about a series of love affairs of Merilee, an illegitimate daughter, and a certain murder. But, Pepper realizes that she has come to know about a lot than what she had bargained for. Therefore, she faces a great danger to her life and is required to run away as soon as possible. She expects that police would do the rest of the working and arrest Merilee after she hands them the hidden evidences.
