Main character Archie Albright says that in the world he knows two things for certain. One is that his mom and his dad kind of hate each other, and when it comes to pretending that they don’t, it’s not really keeping up as well before as it was.

The second thing is that they are keeping some type of secret from him, but he isn’t able to figure out what that is yet.

Archie knows that things aren’t going well for him. He knows that his dad is acting strangely and his mom is too. Their family life has seemed to change so much over the years. The only thing that he wants is for all of it to return to normal.

Archie remembers that just three months before everything was fine. His mom and dad were still happy and they lived together then. When he sees a flyer fall out of his Dad’s pocket all colorful and crumpled up. He thinks that he might finally have a solution. The only issue is that the answer might be an adventure away at the end of a rainbow.

Archie’s willing to try it if it means that it works. He’s also not alone. He has his best friends Seb and Bell to help him out. They’re willing to go along with him to try and find a way to fix his family and take on the journey so that their friend can be happy. He might have to break a few rules along the way to get it done, but so be it.

A wonderful story that will tug at your heart strings! So many critics and reviewers loved this book. The Bookseller said it will be one of the ‘most joyful books you’ll read’ that year. Katie Tsang called the book ‘joyful’ as well as ‘funny and heartfelt’.

This is a story of courage and love as well as kindness in all forms. Bea has a family and they are all really happy together. They are the type of happy where they love to be around each other and it’s so gross but it’s also cute.

When they go to London Pride and have a great day out, Bea does not believe that they could all get any happier. But things have changed just a year later for them all. Their Dad passed away and they all have to deal with the gray cloud that now follows them around. They also have to pack up and go to live with Gran in the countryside.

Riley is Bea’s older sister and she’s not dealing with things well. Bea wants to do whatever she can to try and cheer her sister up. So it is that The Secret Sunshine Project comes together and with the help of some new friends, Bea does her best to try and bring Pride to this countryside and cheer her sister up.

The only problem with this plan is the mayor of the village, an older woman to wants to rain on Bea’s parade any way that she can. Will she be able to defeat this nemesis and bring some joy to her sister’s life? Or will this old lady really ruin everything for them? Read this book to find out!
