Kelly Creagh
Kelly Creagh, as a child, would hold these elaborate one kid plays for her patient relatives, complete with dance, song, and over the top melodramatics. Then, whenever Grandma or Mom would call for a break, she’d head outside to run from make believe ghosts, slay dragons, and create magical feasts for fairies out of pine cones and mud.

During the third grade, she wrote “Pink Lettuce”, her first book. She holds an undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults.

These days, she enjoys transcribing her dramatic daydreams onto the stage of a blank page.

When Kelly is not busy writing, perfecting her maniacal laugh, or curled up reading a good book, she can be found spoiling her three little dogs, baking, learning, teaching, decorating fancy cupcakes, and performing the ancient art of Bellydance.

“Nevermore” is the first novel in the “Nevermore” series and was released in 2010. Varen is goth and a Poe fan, while Isobel is an unlikely heroine and a cheerleader. When a Lit. project pairs these two together, Isobel finds she is steadily swept into Varen’s world, one that he has created in both his mind and in his notebook, one where the horrifying tales of Edgar Allen Poe are brought to life.

Isobel learns that dreams can be far more powerful than she had ever expected, and that despair and pain come in all kinds of shades. While labels of “cheerleader” and “goth” fade, she sees far more in Varen than just a pale and tall outcast, and that a consuming romance is braced against the ever clearer horror that the most horrifying realities are the ones that exist inside our minds.

When Isobel has this one shot to rescue Varen from the shadows of his own nightmares, is she going to be able to save him, as well as herself?

“Nickolas Claus: Ghosts of Christmas Past” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2018. Nickolas (age 16) is the only son of the guy the rest of the world knows as Santa Claus.

Nick is constantly surrounded by all the glitz and glitter of a Christmas season which never ends, and by the countless over achiever and enthusiastic elves that just appear to share his age, he wants nothing more than to just escape from the North Pole. To go where he is able to see the ocean rather than neverending ice. He longs to just go to a normal school with some normal children. He wants a real life. Even though Christmas is a time for magic, hope, and wonder, it’s also a time of strangeness. Of unexplained occurrences and lurking shadows.

This year, when this ghost of Christmas Past gets awakened, some old secrets become unearthed. The bright candy shell skin of Nick’s world gets peeled away, revealing an even darker layer.

Nick is not who (or what) he has been led to believe this whole time. Neither are those closest to him.

Right off the bat you are all wrapped up into Nick’s world. He is a likable character, your typical teen, yet still has a heart of gold.

This is a chilling and festive read full of mayhem and magic which only elves could be responsible for. Getting to know Nick and seeing the unique and imaginative perspective of what Santa’s workshop in the North Pole is truly like is an experience that you just do not want to miss. Every chapter is going to leave you on the edge of your seat, eager to learn more about Nick, his friends, and this frosty world that the rest of us can just dream about.

“Phantom Heart” is the first novel in the “Phantom Heart” series and was released in 2021. A steamy Young Adult romance that is inspired by Gaston Leroux’s classic “The Phantom of the Opera”. Stephanie Armand (age 17) does not believe in spirits or ghosts. Despite her 6 year old sister insisting that there’s a masked figure hiding out in her closet, and all the rumors at school, Stephanie is still not convinced that her dad’s recent renovation project, this crumbling Victorian mansion, actually houses a monster’s soul.

So when the incredibly charming (not to mention totally paranormal obsessed) Lucas Cheney takes an interest in Stephanie and her notorious home, Moldavia, the romantic and supernatural activity starts to escalate to an all time high.

However there is also Erik, who is the dashing British boy, who seems to be from another era entirely, and who has taken up residence in Stephanie’s nightly dreams. He’s a boy that might just have something to do with the man in the mask, and the odd goings on at Moldavia.

“Strange Unearthly Things” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2023. A hauntingly romantic paranormal Jane Eyre reimagining. Jane Reye (age 18) is a psychic artist. She draws what she sees, and what she sees are the supernatural and spirits.

Growing up an orphan, she is now of legal age and is no longer able to return back to the girls’ school that she has called home for the majority of her life. Lost and all alone after the death of her lifelong friend, she gets this invitation to take part in this study at the English manor called Fairfax Hall. It’s an investigation of the property which requires her specific area of expertise.

Upon her arrival, she understands that this won’t be any ordinary study once she meets Elias Thornfield, who’s the proprietor of the estate, a boy that’s her age, roguishly handsome, and who dons this mysterious eye patch. During the study it becomes obvious that there is something amiss, something that has to do with Elias and the spiritual activity that takes place around the manor.

Turning to her art in order to unravel this mystery, she is stunned to find that her talents, as well as her growing affection for Elias, might just be the key to saving him from a terrible fate.
