Ubo is a fictional novel from author Steve Rasnic Tem. If you love a story idea that is pretty unique and can appreciate a great imagination, this book might be a pretty good fit for you!
The main character of Daniel has a big problem. He’s trapped in a place called Ubo. He doesn’t have any idea how long he has been there, imprisoned in this place and only the roaches to keep him company. There are others in Ubo, and they all share a memory that is similar about their own trip to Ubo.
The residents there have the same dream where dry wings went over the moon, with the large insects falling all over the houses in the neighborhood and then going through the windows and the walls by some mechanism. The creatures would go from one world to the next.
Now in Ubo, they make Daniel play a different figure from the history of humanity, a part filled with violence. It could be anything from Stalin to a god killing survivors in a ruins world or Jack the Ripper. All of the scenes change from day to day, and this camp exists beyond time’s rules.
The prisoners slowly start to go insane as the skies start to burn. The experiments begin to evolve, identities are starting to dissolve, and there seems to be no end to this horrible scenario. Will things ever end and can Daniel get out of Ubo? Is Ubo just some type of purgatory or hell? What is the true reality of his situation? Read this book to find out.
The Mask Shop of Doctor Blaack is a fictional book from author Steve Rasnic Tem. If you have been searching for a book that would be good for the autumn or Halloween season, this is a fun read that is perfect for that time of year!
Main character Laura always used to look forward to fall. It was her favorite time during the season. This autumn around, however, things have changed. She’s now a teen and there’s new challenges and changes that come along with the season now that she’s growing up.
Laura has made the choice that she is a bit too old to go out and trick or treat. She really wants to have a nice Halloween experience with her friends, something of a grown experience. But her plans are foiled when she is informed by her parents that she has the duty of taking Trevor, her younger brother, out to go trick or treat before that can happen.
First they have to go and find some Halloween costumes to buy. But in the process, the two of them find themselves happening upon an odd shop. The shop is weird and the proprietor of the shop seems a little off, but that’s okay. It’s the spooky season, right?
Then Trevor tries on a mask that he probably shouldn’t have, and things are off to the races. The consequences for trying on this mask may be very dangerous. Can the brother and sister team take on whatever is coming their way, or are they unprepared for what is coming their way? Read this charming story to find out whether Laura and Trevor can undo the scenario they’ve found themselves in!
