Andrew G. Nelson is a bestselling author of crime and mystery suspense fiction novels from New York City. The author went to the State University of New York for his studies and after graduating, he became a police officer.

After serving in the NYPD for more than two decades, he retired after going through the ranks where he left having risen to the rank of detective. While he was with the NYPD, he worked for several years with the Intelligence Division which was an elite arm of the police before he retired in 2005.

Following his retirement, he got employment at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office where he was the Jail Administrator for two years.

At the tail end of 2012, he began working on “Perfect Pawn,” his debut novel which is set in Long Island’s affluent Southampton neighborhood. He published his debut novel in 2013 and has never looked back since.
Over the years, Andrew Nelson traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States and he uses some of his experiences in his writing. He has also been a speaker at numerous civic, academic, and religious gatherings on the subject of terrorist attacks and faith.
When he is not writing or reading, he can usually be found researching and collecting WWII military and police memorabilia.

During his youth, Andrew G. Nelson loved reading and sought out literary heroes from all genres. Reading “New Centurions” by Joseph Wambaugh, he used to walk the streets of Los Angeles while “Dune” by Frank Herbert introduced her to the world of the Fremen.
When he got older, he traded in the fictional heroes as life got in the way and it was not long before she lost track of all the tears and laughter she used to enjoy as a reader.
Working as a police officer, Nelson walked the deadly streets of Brooklyn and navigated the politics of Police Plaza which were just as dangerous. During this time, he provided personal protection for the Pope, presidents, and foreign dignitaries as a member of the elite Intelligence Division.

On September 11, 2001, he experienced the worst day of his life but was also treated to the best of humanity as people banded together to fight terror. It is from his experiences in the real world that he finds inspiration to craft stories that whisk the reader away to new adventures and new worlds.

In addition to his fictional novels, he has also penned a bunch of nonfiction works.

Andrew G. Nelson’s novel “Small Town Secrets” tells the story of Alex Taylor whose police career is in danger because she cannot control her drinking. The former police sergeant with the NYPD now has a shot at redeeming herself, following an intervention from James Maguire her old partner.

The latter got her a job as the chief of police in the small New Hampshire town of Penobscot. While it should have been a very easy assignment, things soon turn hairy when a young woman’s body is found floating in the lake.

Following the trail, Alex’s investigation might rip the facade of the little town and show the world that it has a darker side. Alex soon realizes that there are some people who would do anything including murder to protect their secrets.

It is a fabulous read that brought in James Maguire from the other series which I particularly loved. This one came with fascinating twists that had me hooked till the very last page and as a person who grew up in a small town I had some eerie feels reading this.
Nonetheless, still a great read and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series.

“Queen’s Gambit” by Andrew G. Nelson follows the life and times of James Maguire, who has been trying to catch Keith Banning for years.

The man is like a ghost and ever since he battled him to a stalemate half a year earlier, James had spent hours investigating sightings and chasing down leads about the elusive killer but never getting close enough.

Maguire is working with the state police task force hoping to capture Banning but the man has gone underground and it is as if he has vanished from the face of the Earth. Richard Stargold who is Maguire’s old friend is the new police commissioner at the NYPD and has offered him the chance to go back to the department he loves.

While the threat of Banning never goes away, James has to face an even greater danger on the horizon that may just put even more lives in danger. In a game driven by revenge, they may have to sacrifice a lot to win.

This is a suspenseful and gripping novel that I just could not put down and I cannot say enough good things baout it. I also loved how spicy he made it with well-rounded characters who I just could not forget weeks after I finished reading it.

Andrew G. Nelson’s novel “Brooklyn Bounce” once again returns to the life and times of Alex Taylor.

For most police officers, nightmares are part and parcel of police work and the same can be said of Alex Taylor. Following a life in law enforcement, she believed she had seen it all from the innocent victims, the blood-chilling and horrific crimes, and the cold-hearted perpetrators.

She should have left all of that behind when she left Brooklyn and its mean streets and moved to New Hampshire and its wooded, tranquil mountains. But she is facing a nervous breakdown as she is having unnerving nightly visions about the one victim she could not save.
Struggling to find some mental relief, she finds herself in a life-and-death struggle that quickly spirals out of control. Soon enough, she finds herself grilled by investigators early on Monday morning and wonders if she can truly rely on her memories.
Trying to pick up the pieces, what she does not know is that the real nightmare is just beginning.

It is a novel that has a little romance, suspense, and action, and sometimes some amusing and witty dialogue that makes for laugh-out-loud moments.
