Keith Rosson is a published American author.
He is known for writing his novels, which extend to the Fever House Duology, Smoke City, Road Seven, and The Mercy of the Tide. He is also the author of the story collection titled Folk Songs for Trauma Surgeons. It won a Shirley Jackson Award.

What do a small time criminal, a washed up rock star, a shady government agency, and a severed hand with dark powers that could ruin all of them have in common? Well for starters, they’re all in Fever House.
Hutch Holtz is the type of guy that makes things happen for a living. As in, he gets paid to break people’s legs. When he comes up to an apartment complex in Portland, Oregon that looks pretty rundown, his intent is to get some long overdue drug money. But when he peeks into refrigerator of his client, he’s shocked to find a severed hand.
It would be one thing if it were just a hand cut loose from the owner, but Hutch soon realizes that this hand has special powers. It is able to induce madness that which cannot be controlled. Anyone who is close to it is come over with a compulsion to commit violence.
It’s just been hours, but already terrible forces are in motion. Government agents used to dark operations that have been ceaselessly looking for the hand are suddenly after Hutch. Then more of the residents in the city start to be impaired by the reach and the powers of the hand. Without any warning, all of the city of Portland could go under thanks to this strange supernatural object.
Then there’s Katherine Moriarty. This singer has suddenly become famous but also has engaged in a horrible downfall. Then her estranged husband somehow died, looking like a suicide but no one is really sure. All of these things that she has gone through has resulted in Katherine becoming agoraphobic, only feeling truly comfortable inside of her apartment.
It helps that Nick has moved back home to help care for her. But her son is also making his living on the side working for Hutch’s boss. Then Hutch calls up Nick, desperate for some help. He wants to make sure that someone else is going to be able to take the hand.
Once he does, Nick and Katherine suddenly become part of a worldly struggle that just might take down the walls of the life that they have constructed together. A mother and a son must take on the deranged masses of people as well as the lying government agents while trying to contend with secrets about the family that have come back from the dead and which may be essential to the survival of humanity.
Will they be affected by the evil powers of the hand? Will the city ever be able to shake itself back to normalcy, or will everything forever be changed and altered by the supernatural powers of this strange severed hand? Can Hutch or the government agents fix this problem before it’s too late? Or will they all fall by the wayside in their quest to handle the hand?
