GL Robinson is a bestselling author of historical romance fiction who is best known for her regency romances.

Originally from the United Kingdom, she is also a retired French professor who has been living in the United States with her American husband for more than four decades.

Earlier on, she went to boarding school since her father Worked in Africa at the time. It was a very old-fashioned locale that had no telephone, no radiator, and no television which meant most of their curriculum was almost wholly humanities.

When she was about eleven years old, she began studying Shakespeare. By the time she turned sixteen, she was conversant with all the French classics and also loved reading Chaucer, even as she proceeded to do eight years of Latin.

As such Literature and Language shaped her development and it was no wonder that she would become a literature professor. During the 1960s, she got her degree from University College London and moved to Brussels for work when Britain joined the Common Market.
She got married to her American husband in 1974 and they lived in Europe for a while before they moved to upstate New York. Most people tell her that she still sounds English even though her English friends say she sounds American.

After retiring from her job as a French professor, GL Robinson dove right into the running of a tiny antiques business. She did this for several years until 2018 when her sister unexpectedly died.

While they had been living continents apart for years, they had remained close and loved to write and call each other from time to time.

When her sister died, they started reminiscing about how they used to giggle under the covers while at the convent reading all manner of historical romance fiction works.

It was the death of her sister that was the catalyst for her writing as she started writing inspired by her memories of the times they had spent together as teenagers in Africa.

Nonetheless, publishing was not easy as she got into querying like most authors, and despite her persistence getting any kind of traction was very difficult. At some point, she got tired of waiting and decided to self-publish, and could not have been more glad.
While there was a learning curve, she loved how she got to control the publishing and writing process and the higher earning potential. Robinson published “Imogen or Love and Money” in 2019 and has never looked back since.

When GL Robinson is not writing her novels, she loves to engage in different hobbies. She loves to aquacise and do Pilates in addition to reading really long books as opposed to her very quiet ones.

She has wide-ranging tastes probably from her upbringing even though she compulsively reads Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer. She also likes British authors such as Kate Atkinson who she believes is the best female author living and Barbara Pym who is known for her 1950s social comedies.

As for American novelists, she is a huge fan of Wallace Stegner, Amor Towles, and of course the JackReacher novels by Lee Child.

Apart from her novels she also loves to chat with her neighbors while riding her bike around the neighborhood while also looking at flowers.

“The Earl and the Mud-Covered Maiden” is a fascinating work of fiction that tells quite a beautiful romance fiction work.

Sophy has been walking along the road when a distracted curricle driver splashes her in mud. The handsome stranger had been driving too fast and did not see her by the side of the road but he is sorry even though he refuses to divulge his real name.
As for Sophy, she is attracted even if she is affronted at the same time and while she does not know it, he feels the same.

However, winning her heart may require that he employs some very intricate stratagems. But even though they have an inauspicious beginning, what is revealed on their wedding day is even worse.
They are informed that due to their family names, they cannot be together but they are not ready to give up.

It is a clean, classic Regency romance of lovers who find themselves in the middle of a two-decade-old mystery. The author paints a beautiful story about love at first sight that she brilliantly weaves into a complex tale that will have you engrossed from the first page to the last.

GL Robinson’s novel The Earl and His Lady is another brilliant addition to the House of Hale series of novels. The work continues from where the debut left off as it follows Sophy Hawthorne who got married to a nobleman.
When she got married to the fifth Earl of Hale, she could never have guessed what she was getting herself into. She now finds herself in a society full of gossip, infidelities, and jealousies.

The Earl who has lived in that society for years is used to it and made the assumption that Sophy would just know how to adapt.

It is a setting that makes for sad, funny, and sometimes touching situations between Sophia and the earl who is a very loving husband. Even though he assumes that she will adapt, she hates how he talks to other people of lower social class.
She teaches him that people need to be respected regardless of their station in life. From his wife, he becomes a more likable person who treats others with dignity but he also needs to return the favor and help his wife adapt to London society.
If he does not, he will have front-row seats and watch as Sophy crashes and burns.

“The Earl and the Heir” is a satisfying and sweet conclusion to the “House of Hale Trilogy” by GL Robinson.

The novel starts four years into Sophy’s marriage to the Earl Lysander. They have been living a busy and full life and with Sylvester their rambunctious three-year-old in the mix, they could not have had their hands more full.

But just like any marriage, they experience the usual disagreements followed by passionate reunions since they love each other so much. But similar to their London peers, they need to address both private and public issues which results in some very intriguing sub-plots.
Sedately meandering through the English capital and the country seat of the earl, it is all about the love the couple has for each other and for Sylvester, in addition to their affection for all those who are employees, friends, and family.
