The Husbands is a book that asks the question of how do we as people try to make our way through love, life, and choices in a world where it appears as though the options never end.

Main character Lauren comes home one night to her flat in London, but things are not as she left them. Her husband Michael comes to the door to greet her, but that is just even more confusing. Lauren knows that she’s not married at all and never has been.

On top of that, she could swear that she has never caught a glimpse of this man ever before in life. She asks her friends about it to try and make sure, but they all tell a different story than the one Lauren’s mind is telling to her.

Her friends all tell her that Michael has been with her for years. They’re not the only ones telling her that, though. By looking at her phone and looking through her photos, it all backs it up. So does the decor in her flat, which is much better than she remembers it looking.

Lauren doesn’t know what to do with all of this information. She could be going totally insane. She could have some type of medical injury that has caused her to have a strange, specific amnesia about her life. Or she could be totally right that she doesn’t know this man and that they aren’t married and everyone else could be in on some hideous conspiracy to deceive her about the very fabric of reality when it comes to her life.

Lauren is trying her best to figure out how she could be in some type of matrimonial relationship that she doesn’t remember at all. While she’s doing that, her spouse makes his way up to the attic for the purposes of changing out a light bulb. However, once he is up there he completely goes missing. That’s not the only strange thing to happen, however, as a new man appears in his place and comes out.

Now a new life is starting up around her and Lauren knows that this is not the same man that went up into the attic. Her slightly different life starts to take form and Lauren comes up with a theory that seems to her to be accurate. Could her attic be a magical place that is coming up with an endless supply of husbands?

Lauren has so many questions and she doesn’t know if they are all going to get answered or not. She wonders whether the attic is giving her new men specifically for her and showing her how her life could be with different partners or it is simply some type of gateway coming here to deliver different people for some reason.

She starts to wonder about the question where if changing up lives can be just as easy as changing out a simple light bulb in the attic, then how can you ever know for certain that you have gone down the correct path? When do you start living instead of just ceasing to attempt to do better?

Lauren does not know what she did in order to cause this to happen, but she also knows that she’s going to have to figure something out at the end of the day. She might not be able to keep all of these strange and magical husbands that are coming out from the top of her house, but it certainly has got her thinking about where she wants to be in her life.

She’s got some serious things to consider as well as a quest to find out why her attic has decided that it can spout out people like it’s nothing. Can Lauren get to the bottom of whether she is satisfied in life and has made the right choice? Or will she find that this experience has finally convinced her that it’s time to switch things up and see what that type of life is like? Pick up a copy of The Husbands by talented author Holly Gramazio to find out what happens in the end and along the way!
