Nathan Larson is a bestselling mystery fiction novelist from Harlem, New York City.

Before he became a bestselling author, he was a renowned composer of music for film and music just for its own sake. He is now known for his movies, TV shows, and even better for his novels, which have also become very popular.
During the 1990s, he played for “Shudder To Think,” the band where he was the lead guitarist. Before all that, he was a nondescript kid trying to make waves in the NY/DC hardcore scenes.

He got in very young and got out still pretty young, even though he still has links in the world of rock and roll, as he occasionally plays a job or produces a song.

He has been very lucky in just about everything he has ever done as he has always found success. Nonetheless, it has now always been smooth sailing as he has for years been a workaholic determined to make the best work he can produce.
He now makes his home in a historic part of Harlem, New York City, where he lives with Nina his Swedish wife, and Nils their son, who continually astounds both of them.

During the early mid-80s, Nathan Larson used to live in Washington D.C. where he was a young man that was very much involved in the hardcore punk scene.

In the beginning years of the ’90s, his band was one of those that was signed by the major label, resulting in a ridiculous and wild ride that evaporated during the late 1990s.
Luckily for Larson, he got out of that collapse and stumbled into the world of making film music, which he still does to this day.

Given how lucrative it is, he has often said that it is something that he can see himself doing for years as compared to living the rock and roll life, which took quite a toll on him while it lasted.
He now believes that Rock and Roll is for young people as he cannot see himself trying to get some leather pants on while in his fifties.

It was while he was working on writing film music that he started writing a manuscript that was ultimately published as “The Dewey Decimal System” in 2011.

In addition to all that, he has arranged very popular experimental music concerts and cofounded the “Lumen Project,” a nonprofit that creates 6-24 hour visual and audio experiences.

As for his journey toward publication, he is unlike many authors in that he had a pretty smooth road.

He was lucky that Johnny Temple the publisher and head of “Akashic” was his friend whom he had known from way back in his teenage years in DC, when he was playing in a band.

When they bumped into each other after not meeting for several years, Temple asked if he had anything for him as he knew him as a scribbler who was always writing different ideas down.

He said yes and produced a messy manuscript he had been writing while doing film music but even though Johnny did not like it, he asked him to produce a noir-y type of writing and he went for it.
As such, he never had to send a ton of manuscripts and get many rejection letters and believes himself very lucky to have been published with so little effort.

Nathan Larson’s “The Dewey Decimal System” is the story of a nameless investigator who walks the mean streets of New York made worse by calamities.

The man sometimes refers to himself by his phony ID name which is “Donny Smith.” Other times he calls himself “Dewey Decimal,” since he loves rearranging the disordered books in the New York Public Library.
However, he lost his real name following several disasters. He has been through a Superflu invasion, three economic collapses, and a series of explosions that decimated the city’s population.
The District Attorney is an unelected man named Daniel Rosenblatt who took advantage of the post-apocalyptic rubble to seize power.

The D.A. now needs Dewey who is known as an obsessive system builder to help fight off the efforts of Ukrainian emigre Yakiv Shapsko who has been actively organizing his community.

Dewey finally finds Shapsko intending to take him out, only to realize that he has walked into something darker and bigger than he could have ever imagined.

He signed up for what he believed was a simple union-busting job but finds himself in a bloody tangle of old vendettas, shifting allegiances, and violence that will also force him to question his buried identity and face his dark past.

“The Nervous System” by Nathan Larson comes back with another episode of the lead who was introduced in “The Dewey Decimal System.”

The lead who is a bagman and veteran is dealing with a fallout from the killing of Daniel Rosenblatt the dirty District Attorney.

Dewey is not your average normal dude as he is obsessed with the systematic organization of books, dealing with a limp after he seriously hurt his knee, and trying to survive in a world that has gone to the dogs.
Nonetheless, he lives by a code and he is not an irredeemable and hopeless psychopath, which sets him apart from the bulk of animals in New York City.

Looking for evidence in his old boss’s office, he finds a ton of blackmail material which introduces him to two groups that could not be more different jostling for position.

One is led by Kwon-Man Seok who leads the Korean community while the other is a criminal gang known as the “Cyna-Corps Stormtroopers” that is involved in everything from military murders for hire to janitorial services.

“The Immune System” is a work by Nathan Larson set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan.

Dewey who is one of the most dangerous freelance operators in New York City is coming to the end of the stacks. He has hardly changed and at the opening of the novel, he has taken down a soldier marked for revenge.
The multilingual and fiercely intelligent Dewey is still working for Senator Clarence Howard, a very corrupt man who needs him to disrupt some anarchist squatters who have been fighting the shadow government he works for.
Dewey is also charged with protecting some twins from the Saudi royal family so that the family line does not die off.

But the closer he comes to knowing the truth about what is plaguing the city, the more he is struggling with his place in a very dark New York City.
He admits to being a monster with a massive black abscess in his soul despite his system and his code.
