Elizabeth Bass is an American author of mystery and romance books. She is the youngest among four siblings who spent her childhood years in a rural area of East Texas before the era of Netflix. She developed a fondness for animals and Humphrey Bogart. Thanks to her father’s penchant for stocking the house with books and the dedication of her elementary school teachers, she was steered away from potentially becoming an illiterate rabbit caretaker glued to black-and-white films on late-night shows. Elizabeth lives in Montreal, where she spends most of her time writing and doing freelance editing. When not writing, you will find her watching an old movie.

Bass also writes Louise Faulk’s historical mystery series under the pen name Liz Freeland. The books in the series include Murder in Greenwich Village (2018), Murder in Midtown (2019), and An Orphan of Hell’s Kitchen (2020).

Another of Elizabeth Bass’s notable standalone novels is Life is Sweet published in 2014. It is an enjoyable novel brimming with warmth, humor, love, and resilience in facing unexpected challenges.

The tale revolves around Rebecca “Becca” Hudson, a former child star turned baker. Despite her bakery success, Becca harbors resentment towards her past fame. She tends to brush off fans who visit her bakery seeking her TV character rather than her baked goods.
