Louise Cooper
Louise Cooper was born May 29, 1952 in Hertfordshire. She started writing stories when she was at school in order to entertain her friends. She hated school so much, in fact (spending the majority of her lessons clandestinely writing stories) that she persuaded her parents to allow her to abandon her education at 15 years old and never regretted it.
By the time she left school she had two embarrassingly bad but finished novels. She worked first as a secretary (where she wrote stories when she was supposed to be typing up letters) and later, after she moved to London to write blurbs for paperbacks, which was more her type of thing.
She continued writing and when she was 20 years old got her first full-length novel published. In 1975, she moved to London and worked in publishing before becoming a full time writer in 1977.
In 1977, with 6 novels now published, even if they weren’t quite bestsellers, she went freelance and supplemented her writing income with proofreading and copy editing.
Louise became a prolific writer of fantasy, and was renowned for “Time Master” trilogy. She published over eighty fantasy and supernatural novels, both for children and adult readers. Louise also wrote some occasional short stories for anthologies, and has co-written a comedy play which was produced for her local school.
She gained a great deal of writing inspiration from the scenery and coast, as well as her other interests in folklore, music, gardening, cooking, and messing around on the beach. She was the treasurer of the local Lifeboat station, she and her husband each sang with the shanty group Falmouth Shout.
Louise lived with her husband, Cas Sandall, in Cornwall, and Simba, their black cat.
Louise died suddenly from a brain aneurysm on October 20, 2009 at the age of 57. She was a talented and wonderful lady that will be greatly missed.
“The Initiate” is the first novel in the “Time Master” series and was released in 1985. The seven gods of Order had ruled for centuries unchallenged, being served by the adepts of the Circle in their bleak northern castle on the Star Peninsula. However for Tarod, who is the most formidable and enigmatic sorcerer in the Circle’s ranks, this darker affinity had started to call.
Threatening his beliefs, and even his sanity, it rose up unbidden from beyond time; this ancient and lethal adversary which could plunge the entire world into chaos and madness, and whose power may just rival that of the gods themselves. And through the mind and heart of Tarod were pledged to Order, his soul, though was a whole other matter.
Louise delivers an amazing story with divine writing. She does an excellent job of enthralling you in this story, and her character development is fantastic here.
“Hunter’s Moon” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2002. Gil and her sister Biddy first spot this ancient church located close to a deserted beach in Norfolk, and see two silent red haired kids loitering over there, she never thought that their lives could get so entangled with such a horrible curse that haunts this church.
Then, inexplicably, Biddy falls seriously ill all of a sudden. There is a connection between Biddy and Gil and the odd girl and boy on the beach, they’ve all got identical flame red hair, however Gil’s got zero idea why this is so significant until she meets her eccentric great uncle, and Rose, his daughter, along with Jonas, Rose’s son, who’s a red head too.
It’s Jonas that leads Gil to the heart of the horrifying secret of the red headed children, and the tortured spirit that lives in this ancient church that can’t rest in peace. However uncovering the secret holds horrible danger for Jonas and Gil. Can they even face such a demon spirit and live to tell the tale?
“Merrow” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2005. A sinister story about shattered friendships, surfing, sexual awakening, and ghosts. Robyn, Jay, and Kiran have all been best friends for years now, hanging out together in their idyllic hometown out on the Cornish coast. They are sixteen years old now, they have just one final summer together before they must get serious about the rest of their lives. However their lives change forever when Kiran tries to save this stranger from drowning and he fails.
From this moment on he’s obsessed with the girl whose body never was found. Imagining that he is able to see her everywhere, shunning Robyn’s company, the company of his devoted girlfriend, and testing his friendship with Jay, whose own loyalty gets shadowed by his growing feelings for the vulnerable Robyn. Robyn is blindly determined to help out Kiran get over this apparent breakdown of his. However soon both Jay and Robyn are having their own doubts as to whether or not the ghost girl, the Merrow, as they call her, exists after all, and the three of them are drawn into a sinister and nightmarish search for the truth.
“Bad Seed” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2008. Marloe and Silve (brother and sister) are the kids of a powerful and burgeoning dynasty. Their mom, named Shar, was this prodigiously powerful channeler of supernatural forces when she was a child, and their dad, Kitto, has an almost telekinetic affinity with animals of all types.
Now Silve and Marloe have come of age. And as teens they are starting to understand just what type of gifts they have inherited from their parents. They are now being faced with their first lethal challenge once this century old sorceress kidnaps Jianna, their dear friend, with a plan to channel her own especially twisted brand of magic through the girl.
Jianna is going to be left just an empty shell, if Silve and Marloe are unable to find her in time. It’ll take every single ounce of their powers, and is going to find them tackling spirits and entities on a horrifying scale. However they must find the courage and take this evil on, in order to claim back some good.
