Katrina Charman has wanted to be a kid’s writer ever since the age of eleven, when her school teacher set her class with the task of writing an epilogue to Roald Dahl’s “Matilda”. Her teacher thought that her writing was good enough to send off to Roald Dahl himself. But sadly, she never got a reply, however the experience ignited her love of writing and reading.

“The Homemade Cat Cafe” is the first novel in the “Poppy’s Place” series and was released in 2016. Isla Palmer is just crazy about cats, like super in love crazy, however her vet nurse mother has never let her have one. Then Isla meets a gorgeous kitty called Poppy that is in need of a loving home, and she comes up with the perfect way of convincing dear old Mum.

“World War II” is the third novel in the “Survival Tails” series and was released in 2019. One brave messenger pigeon enlists this group of heroic zoo animals to aid him in completing his mission in an informative and thrilling read.

World War II is raging across Europe and the German army’s got its sights set on England. Francis, a messenger pigeon, carries some important notes back and forth between England and her allies, wanting nothing more than to do his part for the war effort. However when Francis gets injured on one assignment to deliver the most important message of the entire war, one that warns about a coming attack on Britain itself, he finds himself now stranded right in the middle of the London Zoo without a way to complete this mission.

Ming, the world famous panda, has thus far managed to avoid getting caught up in this war. However that’s getting tougher to do while the zoo suffers under its dwindling food rations and German air raids threaten this city each night. Francis lands in Ming’s enclosure, she knows that she is unable to just stand by and do nothing. Enlisting help from a kind zookeeper and a rather resourceful troop of monkeys, Ming fights to help Francis recover enough strength to complete his mission.

However once the war does arrive in London finally, it threatens everybody in the zoo. Ming, Francis, and the rest of the animals have to band together to save themselves. Possibly even London itself as well.
