She may be known to readers for penning the Knitting in the City series, or its spin-off series, the Winston Brothers. Previously Penny used to work writing federal grant proposals while employed as a biomedical researcher. Now she writes full-time and often pours that energy into writing romantic storylines for her characters.

Penny is very much into knitting, calling herself obsessive. She also owns her mentorship incubator and publishing imprint Smartypants Romance. She is married and resides in Seattle, Washinton with her husband, their three kids, and a dog they’ve named Hazel.

Penny Reid is the creator and the author of the Winston Brother series of fictional novels. This series serves as a spin-off series of Knitting in the City. Each of the novels can be read in sequence or on their own as they are each full-length standalone novels in this contemporary romance series that follows along with the adventures of the Winston brothers and their romantic escapades. As each person in Green Valley, Tennessee knows, the brothers are not only bearded but full of charm and charisma, as well as getting into a bit of mischief.

The series first got started in 2014 with the publication of the prequel novel, Beauty and the Mustache. That was followed in 2015 by the official release of the debut novel in the series, Truth or Beard. The second novel came out the next year, titled Grin and Beard It. That was followed by the release of the third novel in the series, Beard Science. There is a shorter story between the fourth book, called Beard in Waiting. The fourth novel came out in 2017 and is titled Beard in Mind. Beard in Hiding is a shorter story that came out between Beard and Mind and the fifth novel, Dr. Strange Beard. The sixth book came out in 2019 and is titled Beard with Me. It was followed by the seventh book, Beard Necessities.
