Bianca Blythe is a USA Today bestselling author of historical regency romances. She will sometimes pen some of her historical mystery fiction under the pseudonym Camilla Blythe.

The author was born in Texas and went to Wellesley Colege from where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Bianca spent four years living in England where she was employed at a fifteenth-century caste even though she did not like that it did not have earls and dukes strutting about in Hessians.

According to the author, she got into writing when the cold and rainy British weather forced her to dash into a library. It was there that she read her first Julia Quinn novel and she has never looked back since. To this day she still looks out fondly, even when the rain is nothing less than a blustery downpour.

She would, later on, meet her husband in a library and the two then moved to California with its sun and sandy beaches. She still loves exploring historical sites and traveling across Europe.

Unlike many of her contemporaries, Bianca Blythe got into historical romance relatively late while she was in graduate school. Before she discovered romance, she was a huge reader of the classics and chick lit, particularly the works of Sophie Kinsella.
The author also used to read the works of the likes of Agatha Christie and PG Wodehouse. In fact, she has said that one reason why she is a huge lover of regencies is that they invented Georgette Heyer’s interwar period.

During this time, she particularly loved Lucy Maud Montgomery’s “Emily of New Moon,” which was perhaps the work that would have the largest impact on her. It perhaps had to do with the fact that the lead was the young girl who desired to become a novelist and ultimately achieved her dream.

As for her children’s fiction, Blythe has said that her father used to read to her a lot, particularly from the “Chronicles of Narnia” and the “Little House” series. She also used to love reading picture books and remembers reading “The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs,” especially from the perspective of the wolf.

As an author, she likes telling stories of people that may have been portrayed negatively in literature.

During her later childhood years, Blythe had been homeschooled for a while and did not have access to a television until she was in high school. It was during this time that she voraciously read “Seventeen” magazines as she was very interested in popular culture.
It was during this time that she also went to study in Germany for a year and while she loved reading, she found German books too difficult to read. However, he loved reading the German versions of “Cosmopolitan” and “Glamour,” which she found easier to read than actual books.

While she no longer reads these magazines, she understands how important they were to her just like they would have been to have such works for Regency-era women who would have been very isolated.
It was for this reason that she write the advice and gossip-like pamphlets in the “Matchmaking for Wallflowers” series of novels.

Bianca Blythe’s “How to Capture a Duke” is the story of a bluestocking, wallflower woman past her prime and still unmarried at the age of 22.
