About Bret Hart
Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart is one of the most renowned professional wrestlers of all time. His beginnings as a wrestler are rooted in the Hart family dungeon in Calgary, Canada, where his father, Stu Hart, trained him in the ways of wrestling. Stu Hart was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to charity and community, and Bret took this humanitarian spirit with him as he traveled the world for two decades as World Champion of both major wrestling organizations. He was known for the way he brightened the lives of sick and dying children he met with one on one, and for the role model he was to millions of people watching him on TV.
Before becoming a professional wrestler, Bret had earned numerous amateur wrestling awards and was widely recognized for his technical proficiency in his era. He was often seen proclaiming his slogan, “I’m the best there is, was or ever will be” and this was not because he was the toughest or strongest, but because of his commitment to never hurting an opponent. Sadly, his wrestling career came to an abrupt end when he was kicked in the head during a pay per view match and suffered a severe concussion followed by a major stroke.
Fortunately, Bret Hart was able to make a full recovery and has since gone on to explore new adventures such as Aladdin The Magical Family Musical, his first venture into live theater outside the wrestling ring. He also had a role recurring on ‘Lonesome Dove’ which earned him a Gemini nomination, along with appearances in multiple sitcoms and adventure series. Bret Hart is a true testament to the power of the human spirit and will continue to be an inspiration for generations to come.
