Rachael Anderson is an American chick-lit contemporary romance author, and some of her novels have been listed on USA Today’s bestseller list. She is a mother of four and does a decent job in breaking up fights, or least to say sending the guilty part to their rooms.

The Fall of Lord Drayson

The new Earl of Drayson, Colin Cavendish, plans to sell one of his country estates for sale. Unfortunately, selling the estates means he will have to evict the vicar’s widow and her family. Still, after all, his father had made the terrible decision of allowing them to live in the estate in the first place.

When the earl’s stewardess doesn’t deliver the eviction notice, the earl decides to do it himself but falls from his horse just minutes later and comes to his senses after a minute of amnesia.
Lucy is incensed at the earl of Drayton. How could he turn her down and kick her mother out of their home without early notice? When the earl gets a head injury due to a fall during a storm, she helps him to a safe shelter, only to discover that the earl has no idea who he is. Since her mother is out of town, she comes up with a devious plan. She informs the injured man that he is her servant “Collins” and that he must see to her horses, shine the silver and sweep the chimney and whatever else she might think of.

Because of the amnesia, Collins agrees to her requests, and even though he cannot remember his name, he is pretty sure that he was never a footman or a coachman in his previous life. How can he explain his feeling of being Miss Beresford’s equal? Or the fact that he feels like kissing her when the opportunity arises?

Rachael Anderson’s novel was mentioned as a finalist for the Whitney Awards in the historical romance category. This award is dedicated to writers associated with the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter-day Saints.

Reading through the steamy pages of this Regency-era story evokes lots of sighs and giggles. The characters are memorable, with zero villains, with the only prospects being broken hearts.
The fall of Lord Drayson is a perfect regency romance novel. It features refreshing casts, dialogues, swoon-worthy moments, and fantastic romantic tension. It’s a sweet romantic tale from the first page to the last and is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a simple entertaining regency romance story.

The heroine, Lucy, is an intelligent, spunky character with a great sense of humor. She is also honest and loyal, except when she is not, a predicament she gets into. On the other hand, Earl Colin is a man every reader adores to relate with. he takes his new identity while still acting like an early, and it’s priceless watching this unravel. Then there’s a cast of supporting characters that are easy to connect with and play an essential part in rounding off the story.

The Rise of Miss Notley

Cora has to do the only thing she can think of—she flees—when she learns that her father has consented to her engagement to an older man whose character is highly dubious.

She gets assistance and a strategy to protect herself by turning to her buddy Lady Harriet (whose brother is the protagonist in the first book of this series). Cora is sent to stay with her mother by Lady Harriet so that she can help her make her social debut. Even still, we all know that’s not precisely what Cora desires and that we can’t order her around.

Cora learns that a nearby mansion needs a housekeeper. Can she apply? She has no experience managing a household, but it really is her only choice, so maybe, just perhaps, she’d be hired. Cora sets out and meets Mr. Jonathan Ludlow, the property owner, without any letters of recommendation, expertise, or fear.

Jonathan is unsure about his feelings regarding Miss Notley. Despite the fact that she doesn’t seem to be a servant but isn’t called Lady Cora, she has incredibly elegant and sophisticated manners. She is, however, forthright and honest, which are qualities he needs in a person to manage his home and keep his workers in check. Such is the start of Cora’s life as the housekeeper.

Let the struggle of wits, will, and dreadful moments begin. Cora is kind and sympathetic to everyone around her, but she needs to earn the respect of the other servants. She is, fortunately, a quick learner. But everything she does that she thinks is right ends up being incorrect. Will she eventually be able to complete even one task correctly? Or will she have to end her brief employment as a housekeeper? Cora gets herself in quite a pickle when you combine all the chaos with her employer’s growing infatuation.

The characters were really well written and developed, and the prose was excellent. You will enjoy reading the two main characters’ perspectives and learning little tidbits about their past and present throughout the book. The book’s other characters are very enjoyable and contribute significantly to the story. The maids, the chef, the groomsmen, and Cora’s pals. Interesting cast of characters with some mystery surrounding Johnathan & Cora to add to the storyline and narrative.

The character of Miss Notley was excellent. She was undoubtedly a young lady who refused to listen to her parents or anybody else for that matter. Cora finds herself in a bit of a pickle because she was brought up as the child of a wealthy merchant. Not actually born into the elite to be regarded as a true member of the ton, yet too wealthy to socialize with the lower class. She finds herself in a risky situation as a result, but it’s okay because she likes where she is. On the other hand, her parents have very different ideas about their daughter. She will wed a titled man and bring up her family in the upper class.
