Hi everyone,
June wasn’t a great month for me when it came to reading.
I had a lot of work to do, we had quite a few events that were family-related, and I also had a trip to Chicago.
Oh plus patio weather meant quite a few evenings spent on the patio.
One thing I cannot do when hungover is read!
Here’s what I read anyway:
The Enemy by Tom Wood: Second book in the Victor the Assassin series and I loved it. Fast becoming one of my favourite “spy thriller” book series. Just so good and I am trying to pace myself with them, rather than consume them all in a month.
They All Fall Down by Rachel Howzell Hall: The premise was this was really cool. 7 people invited to an island. Locked room thriller deal where they start getting killed off one by one. I thought it was okay. I’d definitely try another by her but this isn’t one I’d rush out to buy.
Local Gone Missing by Fiona Barton: I’ve enjoyed the last three novels Fiona wrote. This one I am not sold on. Not finished it yet and I have had it on the go for about two weeks now! Usually I finish a novel of this genre in a day! The characters just seem soulless. I’m at about 70% and the plot is starting to pick up a bit.
The Third to Die by Allison Brennan: I was listening to this one and it just felt really slow. I was about 3 hours in, there had been one murder in the opening, and the rest was just office politics and establishing relationships and the characters. I was listening to it from the library and it expired before I could finish listening to it and I wasn’t too bothered. Might pick it up in ebook format at some point just to skim through.
What a disappointing month for reading. It happens. I’ll do a better job next month!
