About Stephanie Mylchreest
An author science-fiction, Stephanie Mylchreest is well-known for creating exciting and suspense fuelled post-apocalyptic narratives. Really engaging the reader on every level, she instantly grabs them from the outset, drawing them in for the entire duration of the novel. Fully setting herself apart from other writers within her field, she has something to say too, delivering material that’s new and fresh. Allowing her work to speak for itself, it does what all great fiction should do, which is to entertain and compel the reader.
The worlds that she creates really stand above the rest in her genre, as she fully establishes a sense of ambiance and atmosphere. This then fully envelops the reader, ultimately allowing them to explore it for themselves, and getting lost in the process. Entertaining and exciting, she fills her stories with a real sense of pace that never once lets up, pushing the boundaries at every opportunity. Showing the reader what she has to offer on several different levels, she’s adept at writing from a variety of different perspectives and outlooks.
Her characters are also something to be admired as well, creating personalities that really speak to the reader, letting them know exactly who they are. She understands the reader and precisely what it is that they’re looking for from each and every one of her fun and intense stories. There’s also her own personality infused into each of her books too, as she creates stories that are entirely personal to her. With so much more still yet to follow, she’s a writer who isn’t finishing her career any time in the near future either.
Early and Personal Life
Always reading and writing from since she was young, Stephanie Mylchreest has had an interest in literature for as long as she can remember. Focusing on her craft, she would come to make a name for herself, continually refining and honing her voice over the years. This dedication to her craft would carry on over time, allowing her to essentially become the writer that she currently is today.
Drawing inspiration from other fantasy writers, she’s managed to make a name for herself, with novels such as 1984 and The Road influencing her. Living across several continents during her lifetime, she’s travelled fairly extensively, seeing a lot, and putting it all back into her work. Currently living with her husband, she continues writing, as her writing career as an author grows from strength-to-strength.
Writing Career
In 2019 Stephanie Mylchreest would write and publish her first novel, which was titled ‘Greenhouse,’ and it was also the first in the ‘Insularity’ series of books. Another series she would go on to write was ‘Dark Resistance’ which would come out later that same year with the novel ‘Death City.’ Over the course of her entire writing career she’s produced several different science-fiction series and sagas, including ‘Allegory of the Watcher’ and ‘Escaping the Virus’ to name a few.
Largely producing post-apocalyptic science-fiction action-oriented thrillers, she’s known for her unique brand of writing. Creating novels alongside fellow authors as well, she’s written alongside writers such as Mike Kraus and Misty Zaugg too. Contributing to collections too, she’s a versatile novelist who’s highly adaptable, creating numerous books and franchises.
Under Land
The fourth book in the ‘Dark Resistance’ series of novels, this would carry on from the previous three, providing another instalment in the franchise. Following on from each other, it’s best that they’re read in order so as to make the most from them all, as they each build upon their post-apocalyptic premise. Released in June 2020, it would originally come out through the Kindle publishing platform to a great deal of acclaim.
With the weapon that unleashed destruction on Bratislava still out there, and now Harper must band together with her friends to find it. Seeking to get it back in time, they must retrieve it before it’s too late and it falls into the hands of the Brotherhood and potentially dooming everyone. They could sell it to another terror group, so Harper must risk her life, and she has idea of where the weapon might be. Will they be able to find it in time before it’s too late, can they save the day, and what will become of them all as they head under land?
This is another exciting entry into the tense action-packed franchise, making the most of its highly compelling premise. Building upon the characters it also works at world-building, creating some compelling and interesting set-pieces in the process. The story itself has plenty of interesting elements running underneath, making for a narrative that’s highly engaging and immersive in equal measure.
Edge of Depravity
Initially published through the ‘Muonic Press’ publishing imprint, this would come out on the 16th of April in 2021. Greeted by an already eager audience, it would be the third title in the ongoing ‘Aftermath’ series of post-apocalyptic science-fiction novels. Carrying on in a similar vein to before, it was also written alongside fellow genre authors Misty Zaugg and Mike Kraus.
With a small group of survivors banding together in the wake of the apocalypse, they make their way to the home of Ryan’s survivalist dad in Colorado. April has her dangerous father on their tail, along with Rita’s ex-boyfriend stalker trailing them too, as they attempt to overcome the obstacles in their way. Dealing with their pasts they must look to the future, as storms ravage the landscape, tearing everything they once knew apart. Will they make it to their destination, can they survive the odds, and what will become of them as they face the edge of depravity?
As a tense and suspense filled story, there’s so much going on here, with its exciting narrative really making the most of its premise. The world it creates feels wholly believable, as it immerses the reader on every level for the duration of the entire book. Not only delivering a well-told story, it manages to set itself apart with its engaging characters who the audience can really root for.
