Sarah Crossan is a young adult romance, young adult fiction, and general fiction romance. Growing up, Crossan always knew that she wanted to write thought the never thought of pursuing it as a career as an adult.

She grew up in a family that believed in hard work and appreciated the arts even though they were never seen as a necessity.

She was born to a stay-at-home mother and an architect father and was the only girl among four siblings. She grew up a quiet child amid the rough and tumble and the noise and soccer of her brothers.

While she was born in London when her parents were on vacation, she spend most of her childhood in New York, London, and Dublin.

She would later graduate with a degree in Literature and Philosophy and went to the University of Cambridge, where she trained as a drama and English teacher.
Crossan published her debut novel “The Weight of Water,” which went on to become an award-winning novel.

Over the years, she has won several awards including the CILIP Carnegie Medal, the CLiPPA Poetry Award, the CBI Book of the Year award, and the Young Adult Book Prize.

After she graduated from college, Sarah Crossan went on to teach English for a decade.

She has said that she was interested in becoming a teacher since she wanted to get rid of her shyness. As such, teaching was a way to make herself comfortable with speaking up.

One day while giving one of her lessons about living on’s dreams a student dared ask her if she was living hers. At first, she thought the student was cheeky but later admitted to herself that she certainly was not living her dream.

All she had ever dreamed about was to become a writer. Her breakthrough moment would come when she was undergoing a very difficult moment and once again was asked by her uncle what it was she wanted in life.

Crossan went to her head teacher and asked if she could have the mornings off so that she could write her novels. She began writing a novel set in a medieval castle in which she spent years trying to imitate Anne Enright.

This would be Sarah’s apprenticeship and eventually how she found her own voice. But she never finished her first work and it was not until several manuscripts that she would start querying agents.

Publishing was quite a long journey and it took a while before Sarah Crossan got an agent. It was when she finally got an agent that she started believing she was an author, rather than just another pretentious person on the internet.

She has said that she always used writing to get through the bad times in her life. At one particular time when she was down in the dumps, she realized that writing was the medicine she used to soothe and comfort herself.

It was during one particularly gruesome time that she penned “The Weight of Water” to lessen her grief. Crossan now has more than a dozen novels to her name and has shown no signs of slowing down any time soon.

When she is not writing her bestselling novels. She can usually be found hiking, walking, and painting in acrylics.

“Breathe” by Sarah Crossan is a compelling dystopian fiction work. The entire planet has just been devastated by global warming, leaving oxygen levels at an all-time low.

But a few survivors have managed to survive and now live in domed cities that had recently been set up by the corporation Breathe. The company controls the oxygen consumption of all residents.

The terrible thing is that the wealthier classes have an unlimited supply while the lower classes have to pay a lot for theirs.

The characters include a revolutionary named Alina, who has a strong belief that the environment can be saved.

There is a Premium named Quinn whose father is an employee of the Breathe company and hence oxygen is something she has never had to worry about.
Then there is an Auxilliary Bea who has always been worried about having enough air to survive.

When the three meet, everything changes as they become best friends that help each other survive and meet their life objectives.
Overall, it is an insightful novel with action-packed scenes that will blow away readers.

Sarah Crossan’s novel “Resist” is the sequel to the first work in the series. Three teenagers are left to their own devices in a world with limited air supplies.

They have been cast out of the glass domeD city that is the refuge of what is left of human civilization. Quinn, Alina, and Bea are on the run after starting a rebellion and being thrown out.

They now are in a race for survival as they hardly have any oxygen to breathe. Quinn has lost the life of privilege, Alina has lost her home and Bea lost her family.
