Kimberly Grist is an inspirational author from Georgia that is best known for the “Carrie Town Texas” series of novels. The author is married to Pastor Nelson Grist her high school sweetheart who pastors a church in Forsyth, Georgia.

Grist loves to call herself the mother of three special kids and there is no one she loves better than her family.

Since she has a kid with Down Syndrome, she runs a special needs ministry at church where she encourages parents of children with special needs.
She has said that in her experience, having a handicapped adult or child could make an entire family not attend church thus segregating them from the Christian community.

Since Kim Grist never grew up in church, she asserts that some of her perspectives may be different than those of other people. As such, she works hard to learn so that she can make Children’s Church and Sunday School an experience that will help children develop a true relationship with Christ.

Kim published “Rebecca’s Hope,” her debut inspirational novel in 2018, and has never looked back since.

As a young girl, Kimberly Grist loved to come up with stories that made people laugh. However, all she ever wanted to be was the lead character in Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The biggest complication was that she had been born about a century too late.

Grist was inspired to start writing in 2017 following a devastating cancer diagnosis for her son and the death of her youngest brother. Seeing life in a different light, she had a lot of motivation to pursue her dreams.

She was deeply aware of the passing time and imagined her brother teasing her about the genre she decided to write in, which was Historical Christian Romance. Whenever she reads works in the genre, she tends to view things in a more personal way.

Grist has also been inspired by the many stories she was told by her grandparents, many of which were set in the 19th century. Her husband has also been quite the inspiration as he has been teaching history for years and made her a student of history.

As for romance, it was instilled in her by reading the works of Grace Livingstone Hill that were gifted to her by her grandmother.

Kimberly Grist usually does most of her writing during the weekends and the evenings since she works a day job.

When she first started out, she targetted only 1000 words a day though she will often fail to hit that target since she has a tendency to get hung up on very small details. She will usually spend hours researching, after which she can add just a paragraph.

Ever since she became a successful author, she has received several offers asking to collaborate, which is always a thrill. Still, while there are many inspirational authors out there, she prefers to work with Christian Historical fiction authors.

Some of her favorites that she would be happy to work with include Karen Witemeyer and Tracie Peterson.

“Rebecca’s Hope” by Kimberly Grist opens with a full-grown Rebecca. Little by little, her past is explored as we get excerpts of the letters she used to send to her father over the years. She had lost her mother when she was very young and was then afflicted with asthma among several other health complications.
Her new stepsister and stepmother had made her life unbearable and she was happy when she was sent to live in another town in Texas. The excuse given was that it would be better for her health.

While she was always writing letters to her father all of them came back unopened and she never heard from him again. But now Papa Horace her guardian is dead and she does not know what to do.

He had imparted a lot of wisdom to her in addition to getting her the best education just like a true father would. She had also developed a true relationship with Jesus and leaned a lot on the Word of God and promises.

Things had come crashing down when her benefactor died and she could hardly earn enough to sustain herself. She had been overjoyed when Sam her boyfriend proposed to her but he keeps postponing and she is finding it hard to turn him down due to her circumstances.

Kimberly Grist’s novel “Emma’s Dream” is the story of Emma Brady, an eighteen-year-old who could give anything to work in her garden the whole day. However, she is a terrible cook and while her peers are studying the intricacies of housekeeping she is often reading about herd improvement.

Her biggest dream is to put into place plans that would make the ranch more profitable even though these are also not working. The damsel has been in love with Scotty, full name Brian Scott ever since he had fought a bully for her in the schoolroom.

He had grown up to become a deputy sheriff but lately, his feelings for her and law enforcement have been fading. Her family and friends usually tell her that Scotty cannot be bothered, as he is working on stopping some outlaws out to terrorize residents.

She wonders why he cannot do something as small as sending her a postcard. Will he ever come back to her or is the childhood dream dead and gone?

“Lois’s Risk” by Kimberly Grist is the story of Lois Weaver who has been taught to sew, cook, clean, be honest and polite, and even the proper age to marry. As an adult, she had exceeded everyone’s expectations with her beauty and skills but then shattered them all when she decided to set up a dress shop.

A few months later, a handsome bank owner is trying to woo her even though she finds it hard to gorget the big brown-eyed farmer she has always loved. Daniel Lawrence who is the object of her affections had once upon a time served as a Texas Ranger.

But then he had quit to go purchase some livestock and a farm. He has achieved an immense sense of fulfillment and satisfaction from his new occupation. However, he lacks a family and wife and was just about to propose when he had to invite in his grieving niece and his sister.

There was no way he would bring his new wife to all that complication. Lois is heartbroken at being ignored but there are rules for the 19th century that make it hard for her to pour out her heart to Daniel.
