David W. Wright is a suspense thriller, science fiction, fantasy, post apocalyptic and horror fiction author best known for the “Yesterday’s Gone” series.
The author has been drawing and writing ever since he was a child, as he found it a good escape from a childhood with many bullies and few friends.
He used to dream of drawing comics and writing stories while in class, just as he got lost in the likes of Berkeley Breathed, Stephen King, Bill Watterson, Clive Barker, Charles Schulz and Dean Koontz.
During his teenage years and his twenties, he worked a range of clerical and retail jobs but never gave up the dream of becoming an author. During this time, he used to write “Todd and Penguin,” an online comic strip for the better part of a decade.
It was in 2005 that he got his first cartooning and professional writing job as an editorial cartoonist and reporter for a small paper. He was having a good time until his paper was shut down and he believed the dream was dead.
Soon after, he met Sean Platt who was a blogger and writer of similar things to what Wright was doing.
Sean Platt asked David W. Wright if he would be interested in hosting a show with him. The two then launched “Available Darkness,” a serial that they published on their website in 2008. It was just what they would have liked to watch on TV.
However, they soon realized that most people are not interested in reading novels on websites. Moreover, they could not sell the book that way, which meant they would never make it as authors.
It was a time when there was no Kobo, Kindle, Nook or iPad and they had no hope of signing with traditional publishers as they were two unknown newbies. But then amazon launched Kindle Publishing.
They no longer had to rely on knowing the right person, luck or talent to get through the gatekeepers at the traditional publishing houses. Two movies, TV, and comic loving geeks could finally have the audience they needed for the things they wrote about. They now have their own show and their own audience.
Soon after David W. Wright and Sean Platt would become the AMC/HBO of the serial as they published “Yesterday’s Gone” in 2011. They started selling their novels in seasons and episodes using TV language and were quite successful.
In 2012, they even had one of their novels become a top ten bestseller in Amazon and routinely had their works top the science fiction and horror categories.
He still writes to this day and has achieved the dream of becoming a published author publishing some of his works with 47North, a traditional publisher.
In recent times, they have been moving away from serial given that marketing them has become more challenging over the years. They now have several series and standalones such as “ForNevermore,” “Karma Police” and “WhiteSpace.”
In 2016, they sold “Crash” their first script and are enjoying having audiences look forward to their books as much as they look forward to TV shows. Their works are also published in the Sterling and Stone website.
Readers can also get access to several works for free by joining the mailing list run by Wright.
David W Wright’s novel “Yesterday’s Gone: Season One” is set in October 15, where a huge portion of humanity has just gone missing. The few survivors left soon find themselves in a world devoid of neighbors, family and friends.
Among them is a child searching for his family, a serial killer that has just lost place at the top of the food chain and a special agent that comes out of a fiery plane crash but is unable to locate hisd daughter.
Together, these three need to dig deep to find the strength to take on a very dangerous world. But as civilization becomes a distant memory, there is a new threat emerging that watches and waits ready to prey on their weakness.
Their only hope is to rise above their fear, find more survivors and fce what is sure to be an inky darkness. But first they need to establish trust among themselves and unite before they are all lost.
“Yesterday’s Gone: Season Two” by David W. Wright continues the breakout science fiction and horror series that started in the first novel. A few scattered people had been left behind after millions disappeared in an apocalyptic manner.
The few survivors are now trying to look into what had happened, survive and find any of their loved ones that could have also survived.
At the beginning of the story, a man finds himself standing on an island that may hold answers in addition to secrets of what had transpired.
Meanwhile, there is a huge group at the religious compound known as “The Sanctuary.” They are led by “The Prophet,” an enigmatic leader who has been in charge of the group for months.
There is also a young man who is determined to prove his value to the group and a serial killer that leads a very huge group of survivors.
It is a stunning finale that is exciting with thrills, turns and twists that makes for a great beach read.
David W Wrights’s novel “Yesterday’s Gone: Season Three” continues to chronicle the fight for survival. There is a huge struggle for survival and it is almost impossible to say who will emerge the ultimate winner among the factions.
As the survivors battle “The Darkness,” they are certain that they are fighting for a future. They have to win and survive but the Darkness might just be too strong for them.
The past is being revealed and the few people that survived are beginning to unearth some truths regarding the mysterious disappearances. They have also recently uncovered a danger more serious that what they had ever contemplated.
It is a compelling post apocalyptic fiction work that combines aspects of “LOST” and “The Stand” to make for a compelling read.
