Robert Peecher is a bestselling western fiction author who has made his name as one of the most prolific authors in the genre. As a kid, he used to gather his father’s many “Time Life” books on the “War Between the States” and the “Old West.”

Even when he was very young and could not read very well, he loved flipping through the pages just to look at the pictures. As a preschooler, he used to wear a “Lone Ranger” costume and liked to be called “The Lone Ranger.” But as Peecher grew older, the words in his father’s books started making more sense.
He soon graduated from just looking at pictures and started writing the histories of the wars. Even though he had a fascination with much of the history from the early twentieth century, he loved the mid 1800s history of America even better.

Over the years, he found himself gravitating towards “The Old West” and the “American Civil War.” When he was in high school, Robert developed a love for writing and in college, he made the decision to study print journalism.

Upon graduation, Robert Peecher went on to work for several daily and weekly newspapers in the first ten years when she worked as a journalist. For the next decade, he even went as far as owning a weekly newspaper.

In 2015, he sold his paper and even retired from press work having had a very successful career over two decades. During this time, he had been the lead reporter on a messianic leader of a cult, who would end up being sentenced to federal prison.

He also reported on the corrupt activities of a city official that was also sentenced to federal prison. Over the more than two decades he spent as a journalist, he was threatened several times and even shot at.

At some point, he spent thirty minutes berating the head of an investigative agency that refused to act on evidence of corruption. Robert had a knack of being a nuisance, especially when it involved confronting criminals, despicable public servants and corrupt government officials among other deplorables.

In 2012, Robert Peecher decided to combine his love of writing and his love of history when he wrote the debut novel of the “Jackson Speed” series of novels. The multi book series follows a cowardly and morally bankrupt man, as he goes on adventures during some of the most important moments of the history of America.

He looks at the Old West during the expansion, the Gold Rush in California, the Mexican-American War, and the War of Yankee Aggression.
Peecher has said that he loves Westerns since it happens to be the only genre that embodies truly American ideals of independence of spirit, rugged individualism and freedom.

His inspiration for his stories usually comes from actual events that he gets from non fiction events and old newspapers.

In 2017, after writing about one character for too long Robert Peecher decided to spread his wings and started writing traditional Westerns. The first of these was the “Lodero Westerns” and the “Animal Forks” series that came out in 2018.

When Robert is not writing his novels, he can usually be found paddling on his canoe. Since 1995, he has been married to Jean who he says is usually his first reader and best friend. They have three sons together.

Robert Peecher’s novel “Blood on the Mountain” is the story of old mountain man Eli Simmons. He currently resides in the city and doesn’t move around a lot. His two grandchildren and his daughter now live with the Snake People Indians, since she is married to the son of the chief.

In the meantime, a strong contingent of Union soldiers are heading to the Indian village to deal with murderous Indians that have killed several settlers. They are going after the Snake People and do not care if they are responsible or not.

Eli convinces Moses Calhoun, a fellow mountain man to head to the Snake People’s land to warn them of the incoming danger. He also asks him to convince his daughter to come back with his grandkids to town. But given that winter is setting in, this could be quite a huge challenge.

Moses Calhoun is a fiercely independent man that soon finds himself in the middle of the fire between the opposing sides. He needs to rely on his talents and skills if he is to survive the treacherous mission.

“Death in the Valley” by Robert Peecher is a story just as good as the first in the series. The more you get to know the character the more you are attached to them and the series in general. Rob is an expert at delving deep into the characters and provides a good description of the weather and land in the grip of winter.

In winter, survival always comes hard and things get interesting when Moses Calhoun gets a new job. A bounty hunter enlist him as a guide when a gang of wanted men escapes to the mountains he is most familiar with. One is driven by loyalty while the other is driven by money.

While the job pays well, his decision to take it could cost Calhoun what he loves most. Moses Calhoun is a frontier man that straddles the divide between the American Indians and the world of the white man.

What he has going for him is that he has determination and grit in addition to his exceptional survivalist, marksmanship and tracking skills. He is determined to bring the wanted gangsters to justice no matter what it takes.

Robert Peecher’s “A Season of Killing” sees spring returning to the mountain valleys and bringing back life. The grizzlies are shaking off their winter slumber and are setting out to find food even as the hunters are out looking for game. For young adults it is time to learn the arts of surviving in the wilderness including how to kill.

Moses Calhoun is taking his son to the valley to show him how to survive just like a mama bear would teach its young. But then the hunting grounds are infested by old enemies and Moses finds himself prey. It is a season of renewal and life in the valleys but death also stalks the beautiful grasslands.
It is a great story that is descriptive, harrowing and tense that tells of a family in desperate straits after they are the target of an enemy seeking revenge.
