About Vicki V. Clifford
The Scottish author Vicki Clifford is well known for her fun and engaging style of writing that really grabs readers from the outset. Often writing cozy mystery novels, she’s a gifted writer with a lot to say, providing unique and entertaining stories that have captivated her audience. Early and Personal Life
Born in Edinburgh in Scotland, Vicki V. Clifford would grow up with a keen interest in both reading and writing from an early age. Knowing and understanding her craft, she would hone and refine her voice, finding exactly who she wanted to be as an author. This would develop throughout the years, as she’d come to find her own voice as both an author and as a writer with something to say.
Gaining a PhD in psychoanalysis, Clifford would attend the University of Edinburgh, all the while working as a hairdresser freelance. Later she would also go on to tutor Religious Studies, which she taught at the University of Stirling, as she continued to write. Currently living in Perthshire in Scotland, she still writes regularly to this very day, as she takes walks down by the river.
Writing Career
Known largely for writing mystery novels, Vicki V. Clifford is a well established author with a number of books behind her. The first novel that she’d have published was titled ‘Freud’s Converts’ which would come out back in 2007 to much acclaim. This would help set her up as an established writer with a lot to offer, as she’d go on to write and publish several long-running mystery series.
Creating the much loved Viv Fraser series of novels, she would fast rise to prominence as an author of some renowned. Producing several mystery novels featuring the hairdresser turned amateur sleuth Fraser as the leading protagonist, they’d run for a long time. Winning numerous nominations for her work while gaining acclaim from fellow writers, Clifford has set herself apart and continues to do so to this day.
Deception is the Old Black
First published back in 2017, this would come out on the 19th of November to much acclaim, this being the fourth in the Viv Fraser series of novels. Initially published through the Inverardoch Press publishing label, this would provide another stand-alone mystery thriller story. Setting itself apart, it really takes the action up a level for the reader, increasing it for them, as the tension is really raised.
Top ranking officials from the National Task Force have summoned the Scottish sleuth Viv Fraser, giving her a new investigation. She’s been tasked with finding a mole within the ranks of the Task Force itself, as she needs to track them down and bring them to justice. Journeying into the dark web, she now must hunt down an international trafficking ring, as the stakes are raised even higher. Will she find the culprit in time, can she survive long enough to do so, and what will become of her as she discovers deception is the old black?
An exciting and tense thriller with plenty of twists and turns, there’s lots of surprises here for fans of the genre and the author. Following along with the character every step of the way, it really makes the most of its premise, fully pushing it to its potential. There are a lot of strong themes and ideas here, as it really has a lot to offer in terms of both action as well as pacing.
Wounded Knights
Published under the Inverardoch Press publishing imprint, this would originally come out back in 2019 on the 19th of December. Marking the sixth book in the Viv Fraser series of novels, it would continue on directly from the others with another self-contained story. Moving forwards, it manages to really develop the character of Fraser and what she means as a leading protagonist. Another taut thriller, there’s a lot of excitement here throughout, as it moves steadily along at a brisk pace, really pushing its premise to the full.
Still reeling from the recent loss of her lover, security hacker Viv Fraser is set to take a missing person’s case to help distract her. Then her subject find themselves murdered, leaving Fraser to follow the trail into a web of lies and deceit, uncovering a whole number of secrets. Now the body count is rising as well, as she’s drawn inside a cathedral and the Vatican Library, as it begins to look like someone wants her dead too. Will she be able to find the real killer in time, what do they want with her, and what will become of those known as the wounded knights?
